question on amp install?
okay..i already have an amp...for my sub..and im planning on getting a 4 channel amp for my mids...my original amp has a fuse holder on its power line from the battery...my question is:
is it okay to use that same power line...and then use a power distributer with 2 more fuse holders...to distribute power to both the amps...
so it goes something like thist..from the battery...there is 1 wire for power w/fuse holder....which will run to the trunk...and hook up to a power distributer w/fuse holders...which will split into 2 power wires and power both amps...????

it really depends on the size of your amps and how much current it's going to draw, but there is a general rule of thumb. a fuse should always be within `18" of the battery, any fuse after that is just for backup or cosmetics. also, if you plan on splitting the main wire, i would invest in 4 gauge wire going into the 2-pole distribution block you are talking about. from there, use nothing less than 8 gauge. by doing so, it's like opening up the size of the hose so that you can push more water through it. good luck!!
im working on my system right nwo too. i am running a 4 gauge wire that is fused wit a 200 ANL fuse and that power wire runs to a power distribution block in the back where it goes into a 4 gauge input and has 4 8 gauge outputs and the three 8 gauge run to my 3 amps.
