plz help me, swap question
this might be a bit of a noob question, but im really not sure.
i have a 91 civic dx and my motor has 223 000km on it, i think it may be on its last legs. if i get a 97 or newer motor from a civic dx (canada) would i be able to just switch the motors right up, without doing an mpfi swaps etc..
the reason im wondering is because the motor in my car is a d15b2 but the newer dx motors are 1.6litre (non-vtec) and more powerful.... is it still the same?
also can i keep all the other parts, im talking only switching the motor itself, nothign else.
all your help is much appreciated

Well, maybe I can help here....
you COULD use your d15 computer, intake manifold, distributor, etc etc... but what is the point? The new motor will feel exactly like your old d15, which is fine if you're just doing a daily driver, I guess.

like Mr. S said, you can just switch your old intake manifold and everything onto the new block, but dont expect to gain any more power from this newer engine. It will bolt right in though. If you want to use the intake manifold on the new engine, you will have to convert to MPFI, and thats where you'll start to notice some power gains.
also, 223,000km isnt really that much for these cars. i have 325,000km's on mine right now and its still going strong, so unless the car was driven hard and not taken care of, then it may be getting near the end of its life.

alright, well ill probably just leave this engine until it does go, no point in fixing a problem that isnt there right?
thanx for the help
