Default lift points on engine - where the #*!* are they?

the points where you attach the lift chains to an engine. are they normally attached already to the engine, or is it something that you have to buy and bolt on? neither the engine coming or nor the engine going in have the attachment points on them.

You could wrap the chain around the engine a couple times, or you could use the side mount and there is one by the front of the trans, atleast on my b16 there is. I can't remeber about the d15. Anyways if you just use 2, make sure the engine don't flip forward or back. And I would hook it up at more then 2 points, because what if somthing happens to the one point and it snaps.

when i took out my a6 you just bolt one end of the chain to the front side of the tranny and one to the rear side of head (10x1.25mm bolt). its a pain in the *** if you don't have one of those leveler things!

Why not, I did this when I took my d15 out. I also wraped one around the new engine, put it threw the intake mani running onto my header. My engine was not falling for sure. O I also had 2 other chains connecting at the main point to. The 1 around the engine was just for peace of mind. Plus the engine tends to lean back if you just hook it up on the sides.

I use 1 small bolt for behind the cylinder head, and then 1 of the tranny bolts (if the engine is attached to the tranny).

haha, I did something similar to this too, but instead of using a chain to go around the engine, i used a big strap, held up fine and it was just a little d15b2 so its not like it weighed much. I wrapped around the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold, seemed to work ok.
actullay i have a pic
