Integra Type R classing/series?
I've been adding parts(mostly safety thus far) to my car lately(probably because it's winter and I'm bored) and I'm wondering what are my options as far as series/classing to run a Type R in. I know of a few: SCCA T2, Honda Challenge(not much support around here), SVWC, and Motorola cup. Any series that I'm leaving out that may or may not provide competitive classing for this car?
I'm not ready to start racing yet, but I have every intention of working up to that point and going beyond it. Any input is welcome. Thanks!

Actually, the only parts besides safety(sparco evo seats, 5-points, weld-in cage to be added) that I have would be my gab dampers and ground control sleeves.
Like you said, I'll have to research and make sure every little thing is OK for that class. I need to pick up a GCR, even if I don't get to do any racing for a year or two, I am "modding" my car NOW.
I think T2 would be a lot of fun. Out-classed for the most part, but I'd still enjoy being the underdog...

A Type R might have a chance in T2 on a flowing track with short straights. However if I were in your shoes I would go another route. In the SCCA Texas region there is a ITE class which is cars prepped to Improved Touring rules, and under 3 liters, but not classified by SCCA (like Type R and E30 M3). Improved Touring rules would let you modify your suspension and your engine a lot more than T2. Also, ITE runs in the same group with ITS class which has a lot of fun competition. In my last race I came in second by .822 seconds in ITS in my Prelude, but beat the E30 M3 by a half car length that came in first in ITE.

ITE sounds like a good idea. Being able to modify the car more would mean more diversity and the possibility of finding a perfectly matched setup for your driving style. I'm at work now, but I'll definitely check into that tonight. Thanks!
You will need to check with your local SCCA region to see if they do run ITE and, if so, what the rules are. ITE is a region-specific class and the rules vary a LOT around the nation, some of them being kind of specific - like the car needs a logbook from another sactioned series (GrandAm Cup, whatever) to be eligible...

for autox you could run STX and be very competative. Only competition in that class are WRX's, which are beatable if you prep correctly. (and dont kill cones)

I'm afraid I'm not going to be doing any more autox, unless I come across events closer to me. They used to hold events at a decent location 30 minutes from my house, but now they're all 60+ minutes away. I don't feel like waking up at 5 am to travel in the direction of Chicago. It's too bad, I loved that adrenaline rush.
I expect this place to provide me with autox-like thrills. Plus, my 11 year old brother can try it out, too. 30 minutes for $25!
