Default hot tanking GSR head

Can you steam tanking a complete GSR head, or do you have to tear it down first? I just want to clean it up, and clean up the thick carbon build up... how much does it usually cost?

You can do that. Just make sure the chemical used will not hurt the valve seals.

Be carefull that its not triclorethene. i did my head and then realized that triclor embrittles titanium(retainers). Nice litle paperweights now. And you cant see it visually either.

I work there so anyhing I need cleaned, blasted, glass peened, Ivd aluminum plated and conversion coated, I do myself I wish we had anodizing tanks here like our parent company does. I need to find out some info on moly coating because I could probably spray it here at work.
