i remember when my life used to be nice and simple, now im faced with daily decisions that are driving me crazy. heres my latest dilema. Ive been lookin into getting this 89 HF CRX with a nice B18c5, otherwise known as the ITR, swapped into it. Loaded with a built engine, new fuel pump, fpr, ect ect...oh and i cant forget the Nitrous. Niccceeeeeee rims and drop. and a 2 grand Pearl Blue paint job (not my prefered color but oh well). On the inside it has Si seats re-apolstered blue, a nice litttle tach, and of course the gigantic Nitrous tank. While im really looking for a Black Si and nothing less, this seemed like a good deal at $3800, the car was listed for $5500. So today i find out its now having a problem starting! He just wants to get rid of the car so he will let me have it as is for $2700 and he will pay for it to be towed. I dont want a car that will always need work done to it and im not sure if thats that type of situation. If i dont buy it from him he is just going to sell the motor to this guy for $2000 and part the rest of the car out..........decisions, decisions....

 

use the nawz till the engine blows. then push the car off the nearest cliff

 

Sound like the engines already blown because it can not be started and he wants it towed away. I'd take a compression tester over there and do a compression test on the motor. See what kind of readings you can get. 200 psi across all cylinders would be nice. I have a feeling something is major wrong internally. If it wont crank over and the battery has juice and everything is hooked up properly he has probably blown the engine and most of it is worthless.

 

buy it.... u can rebuild that bay if u want.. in case its blown.. and still will be cheaper thant getting a CRX and sswaping even a B16.....
specially since all the rest of stuff that has done.... its worthed the cash....
i dont know... but i know abut engines and stuff.... i would jump on that in a hearbeat

 

i dont think the engine is blown because if i dont buy the car he is going to sell the motor to some guy for $2000 and part the rest of the car out, also he said its probably something eletrical. The guy he got it from had a $8000 stereo in it complete with a screen in teh dash..when he sold the car he just ripped it all out leaving wires laying everywhere..apparently this has caused problems in the past. I'd like to get it and fix it but i dont know how serious it is and i'd just like a solid car i dont have to worry about fixing right now in my life.

 

Sounds to me like the car is a problem and he just wants to get rid of it and your exactly the person he is looking for to buy it! I probably would never buy another persons build unless I knew the car TRUST ME I LEARNED THE HARD WAY! The car has NOS too not a good sign! Why is the car not starting has he told you anything?

 

nope hes just guessing it ssomething eletrical...i know exactly what you mean about buying someone elses build, im looking for a bone stock original d16 sittin in a 1 owner Black CRX Si...but thats just not gonna happen so hopefully a black Si in good shape will come along and ill get lucky..ive already came across 2 but they both fell through. DAMN MY LUCK

i called him and left a msg, told him i wasnt lookin for a car that needs work, right now, i just need a solid car. i also asked how much he would sell hims rims, corners, and tach for. (hes just going to part the shell out, and sell the motor if i dont buy it)



theres the little basterd confusing my life. It looks kinda ricey but the first thing i was gonna do i slap some good ol' stock tail lights on it. Once again that shade of blue isnt exactly my favorite but i was gonna live with it because i was just going to drive the car for a while till a nice black si came onto the market, then i would buy the Si and trade engines ...This ITRed CRX is an HF.


EDIT: Oh yeah..can anyone tell me what rims those are? i love them and i'd like to get some one day if i dont get them from this guy

I think i woulda bought it, because the car seems like its worth more than the price he is selling it, even if its not running. once you got it to run, you probolly woulda saved alot of money.

The front buper looks black form the angle of the picture. Is it? That would kinda suck to have that paint matched to the $2k paint job

if so, you need to go buy a brand new car. working on cars is what makes racing fun. when your car is a pos and after some hard work you're in the 12's, hell it is something to be proud about. and don't forget this is Honda- TECH!

 

Well to each his own ( at least its not a huge downforce one...its actually nice looking).

Okay as for the car....I know you want a black one,but hell thats what PAINT is for. I say if you like the rex,but it for low....part out the engine,nos and the crap you really dont want and use the funds you get to make it yours...it all up to you.

personally, i would buy it, although it may need a bit of work to get it running again, and that doesnt seem like the kinda thing u wanna do right now. The final decision is up to you. if u wanna put a bit of time into it to get it running again, then it'll be a good deal for ya cause hes asking a good price. but if you're really not up to doing any work to it, keep looking.

 

Looks too nice for that cheap..It must have some SERIOUS probs. I bet the owner beat the **** out of it. I bet the rods are bent...pistons probably are burned through which is common on a car with nitrous. If you are looking for a black Si dont settle for something that is the opposite of what you want. Black CRX Si are everywhere.

 

i love workin on cars, but i'd prefer to buy a bone stock CRX so that way i know everything thats been done to it, mainly because im the one thats going to do it. Also i just got a job today and i need transportation to work and back. Yeah the bumper is primer black, the hood is also a much uglier shade of blue/green. But the guy said the hood was a real peice of **** so he would buy another hood for me and let me put it on, but now that the offer is AS IS im pretty sre hes not gonna buy the hood. So thats even more paint matching. Also it would be alot easier for me to settle on a Non-Black Si than a Black Non-Si..this is neither, a pearl blue HF.
