Inspecting tranny for problems before installation?
I bought a used b16 cable tranny last night and I'd like to have it checked out before I install it.
I took the sellers word on the condition of the tranny. He claimed that there are no grinds, etc. and he seemed trustworthy, but I need to be sure.
Is it possible to have this done, or to do it myself?
Thanks,
Adam

You can do it yourself. Have the specs in hand too. What you nne to look for is wear on the synchronizer sleeves as well on the dog teeth. Also check the end play clearance on the gears too. Here is a project that i did in my tranny class

Looks like you have some skills. I personally have never even opened up a tranny case before, so it makes me nervous. Is it a difficult job?
Do you by any chance have the required specs on the S1 tranny?
Thanks again,
Adam
