81mm is stock.

If you replace your pistons, go with at least 81.25mm pistons.

Why, that would mean I have to bore out the cylinders right????
I mean they both cost the same so would there be advantages to buy the 81.25mm??

Oh by the way I'm planning to put in a set of TODA forgies

The reason to have the cylinders bored out to 81.25mm is to help ensure that the rings will seat properly.

Reinstalling 81mm pistons can be done, but I'd really advise against it.

Oh I'll give you a bit of history.. The pistons need changing because the oil was consumed, rings are completely gone. So if this was your car, definately go over size even though the cylinders look ok???

So the 81.25 right???

Why couldnt you just hone teh cylinder walls? I mean if it doesnt have a ton of miles it shouldnt too bad, plus you dont want to reduce cylinder wall thickness unless you absolutely have to.

Yeah but what about the damage the piston rings might have caused???? I'd rather be safe than sorry !!!

Oh and I cant source 81.00 only 81.25mm

I have oil consumption problems on my ITR whats the chance of it NOT being piston rings.

I am getting CTR pistons either way (I have the head being stripped and TODA B's going in at the same time) but I would like to get them in advance if possible.

Is there a chance it will be something other than rings??? (only one cylinder is down on compression)

as probably said on other posts, if your head has been modified wrong sized valve stem seals if not ?????

I know that my rings went for either of 2 reasons, mechanic ran the car dry then went oh ****!!! before it was too late or incorrectly tuned and pinging k.o. the rings!!!

Yeah that's what I thought/had been told, I have resigned myself to the fact that the engine will be better bored so I am going to go for oversized pistons.
