ok...i have a b18c1 in my 94 civic si....i would like to know whats the best way to wire up IAB to ecu.
i know that the pinout from the ecu to the IAB is A17.
is there a wire in the engine harness that goes directly to the IAB??
o yea..i have an obd2 motor with obd2 engine harness with an obd1 p72 ecu.
this should be enough info. for you that are reading this!

Best way of wiring it is to take out the battery and wire it thru the firewall to the ECU. Another way of doing it is going around under the fender and thru the door with wire covering on it, to the ECU. This is a 'lazier' way, but still works nonetheless.

Unfortunately, there is no wire going to the ECU factory. So it will have to be wired.

For OBD1, one wire needs to go to A17 (as you stated) and the other is a Power Souce (12V). Make sure vacuum lines are hooked up with the IAB valve and such for it to work.

Good luck!

I did kind of a different method. I simply 'T'd a vaccum line from the intake manifold and attatched it directly to the IAB diaphram. Therefore the more throtle, the more the secondaries open up.

It isnt at all the correct way to do it, but i like being different and trying different things. At WOT it is the same as if it were working normally.

Just another idea.

this is what i did when i installed a jdm b18c into my friend's eg.

-the b18c didn't come w/ an evap purge control solenoid valve, but his stock d16z6 did. And he didn't care if that was hooked up or not.
-so, i took the plug that was originally hooked to the evap solenoid and plugged it into the IAB (yes, it plugs right in)
-then at the ecu I had to switch pins a17 and a19 (basically you move the wire from the evap solenoid pin to the IAB pin)

later on there was some type of ground problem w/ the IAB and I guess it wasn't working (thats what he says, i'm not sure if he knew what he was doing though). but he said he grounded the IAB independantly after that.
