can't remove the clutch release shaft from the throwout bearing
the throwout bearing is like seized to the clutch release shaft. i tried spraying wd-40 on the shaft and tapping it with a hammer to no avail. anyone have any ideas to get it out?
basically i am trying to replace the throwout bearing but can't get the bearing off the release shaft (can't get the release shaft out of the tranny).

Does it move in and out, just not come off the end of the shaft, or is it stuck clear back as far as it goes?
the throwout bearing itself moves like it should to engage the clutch. like if i pull on the clutch release, the bearing slides on and off the "seat" that it is normally on.
after i pulled out the 12mm screw that holds the t.o. bearing to the release shaft, the shaft only moves a very tiny bit (what i will call in and out). it only moved the little distance it can before the t.o. bearing hits the tranny case.
I'm dumb... you confused me.
You should be able to pull that release lever straight out of the transmission. In other words, if the trans was in the car, you would pull toward the front of the car.
So what you would do is, take the 12 mil bolt out, then pull the release arm straight out of the trans. The fork will fall off, the spring will fall off, and the bearing is free to come out.
I apologize if I totally missed something here though. This stuff is confusing to talk about without pictures.

hehe ok how about this...
when i go to pull the release arm out, it won't come out. basically the fork and spring are stuck to it.

pull off the fork if you can as well as the spring. soak the berring in degreaser. use a flathead as a chissle, tap around the shaft it and a hammer. should come off

it should work no promises....im goin to the junkyard today i forgot that integra manual in my granpops ranger i borrowed....but ill get the specs to ya later on today
all you need is a flat tip screwdriver NO BOLTS NEEDED TO BE REMOVED
just pop off the spring i do know how to post pics or i'd show you

taking you tabs off the t/o bearing #5 is all you should need to do. that other **** doesnt need to come off even if your rebuilding the transaxle
yeah, you dont NEED to take out the arm itself, the throwout bearing should come right out once you slide the clips from the spring (#5 on above diagram) out of the throwout bearing itself.
ok i will give that a try. i was just following the helms so that is why i was removing the arm...
Personally I'd get a prybar in there and pry that **** out... I remember mine didn't come that easily either, so I greased it all up and reinstalled it. I think I just pried between where the arm goes into the transmission, ie towards the front of the car, against the front of the transmission casing and with the tip on the arm. There should be enough of a lip there to get some leverage on it.

Hi breaka,
first, look at the back of the Trow out bearing, you'll see two little snap where the spring is attached, with a flat screw driver, pop out the spring, then just slide the trow out bearing out the shaft, if he is jamed on use a puller, that's what I did, on mine ( my 87 crx Dx ) the bearing sized and I used a puller to pop it out, it was really quick.
hope this help
see ya
