Warming up car neccessary??
I always let mine warm up too, not as much in the summer but all of the time in the winter, i find that if i dont, the car idles way too high and response is really slow. like you'll push the throttle, itll go up stay there for a couple seconds, then come back down, but if i let it warm up a bit, it works perfectly. It usually doesnt do anything in the summer though, cause the car isnt really cold then.
well warm uptime is what differs from you oil type ...if your using sythetic. and a light weight oil.. you dont need to wait for a long time to warm up.. the lighter oil will circulate faster then thicker oil..
Warming up your car is VERY important. I wouldn't want my motor grinding metal to metal without any oil in between.
I warm up my car until my temperature needle reaches the first dash on the cold mark, then I usually shift at 2,500 rpm. Once warmed up, I shift at 3,000 rpm.

The main reason why you should warm up your Honda:
"Honda's ECU will increase timing up to six 6 degrees more when cold."
From Bill at ZDyne.

If it's really cold, like below zero F, I let it idle for about 30 seconds, and then I drive off... taking it slow and easy. Over 260,000 miles on her so far, so it doesn't seem to be an issue.

I don't care how cold it is outside. I'm kind of a lead foot so I always let my car warm up. Think about it. How big are the clearances on an engine that is cold and one that is warm? Think of it this way. Would you like it if somebody woke you up from sleeping and made you run the mile at full speed? no, you probably wouldn't and you'd be sore as **** in about 4 hrs. That's how I look at it.
I'm so paranoid that when it is cold out, I start my civic and let it COMPLETELY warm up with no heat on inside. Then i turn the heat on and let that sit for a minute or so. Then I start driving. Cheapest preventative maintenance for anybody out there.

So overall in my opinion; it doesn't hurt.
Kinda makes ya think about the people where as soon as their in the car w/the key in the ignition the car starts moving. I highly doubt the oil pressure has come up yet. I always let my car warm up, especially in winter.

The only time the oil pressure is not there is when i change my oil, then it takes about 2-3 seconds before oil pressure builds up.
I always thought warming up your car was to get the car running at normal operating temp, which the car is designed to run at, cold oil doesnt lubricate as well as warm oil.

I have an oil pressure gauge in my car, the second i turn on the car the oil pressure is there.

i always warm up my car for 5~10mins depending on how cold it is outside. i usually keep it under 3~4k until its all the way warmed up. just seems like it'd be easier on the engine.
I was in Advance Auto Parts the other day and they had a video on that said you should only let the car run for about a minute in the winter before you start driving. They said it may not be as comfortable for the driver, but it's better for your car. Anyone know why that is, or if it's even true?
I allways let the car run at least for a minute before i take off and allso nothing over 3.5k until it gets worm, it is a alumininium engine it is not a ford.
i warm my car untill it goes down to 1500rpm..then I drove 4 miles to work..almost a waste of gas...I need a different Honda...anyone have a SPree or Elite for sale lol
whenever i get in my car i let it warm up till the rpms drop to about 1000 then i start driving, once i start going i dont put it past 3000 rpms, people get pissed at me when i jump on the freeway cuz i dont go fast enough for them. hahahaha!!
i let my crx warm up for about 2-3 min in the moring before work
i just leave my club on and go back inside the house and lock the house up put my shoes on and junk then im off to work.
Once my car has been driving the next time i start it, i usally give it a minute or 2.

i always thought you should too until i got a vw ... yes i still have 3 crx's i haven't left the honda camp yet !! aparantly vw has done research and you shouldn't let your auto sit in one spot to warm up, you should immediately leave and just keep the rpms as low as possible until you are up to operating temperature. reason being if you just let it sit there the damage will be greater because of the increased amount of time needed to get the motor up to operating temp, whereas if you immediately drive but keep it cool it takes less time to warm up and in turn less friction on your motor. i assume this is an issue in really cold weather but in mild to warm its prob no biggie. but this is documented in my gti manual and it caught me off guard so i figured i would share.
the main reason its so u get enough oil pressure and everything gets suficient oil for lubrication....
let the car idle for 3-5 min its all u need......just dont go on VTEC or over 4500 while its still cold.... u dont wanna make him stress.... but once it lubes.... its all good....
