Default B20B/VTEC Turbo Dyno @ 7 psi...Comments?

Well it made it through the dyno OK.. Thanks to all the poeple there helping at the Phily dyno day...

Setup:
B20B Block (stock)/GSR Head (ported)/ Skunk 2 intake
2mm Comitec (sp?) gasket (9.0 CR)
F-max T3/T4 Kit
440cc injectors
Hondata 4b
Running "Drag" timing map for B18C1

Iteresting torque numbers, not much power though. I think the Hondata map pulls too much timing out for 9.0 CR engine, But with a stock block, I don't want to make too much power anyway...

A/R was 12-12.5 accross at full throttle. The car is lots of fun, can't wait for auto-x!

Thanks to all...

Thats pretty weak. I made 220hp on 7 psi untuned hondata on a stock LS motor.
I would have your hondata re-tuned bro. You should be making a lot more power than that.
I really wish I could have made the dyno sessions this weekend. Work sucks---put in 27 hours between yesterday and today.

Like I said in the post. I was running the Drag timing map for the B18C1!

Sheese. I didn't even think it would make it through the dyno the way people on this board talk!

Anyway... the tach is a little off, it was supposed to be 7500 RPM. But if the timing map is pulling to much timing, I can change that. Just wanted some advice... It pulls like 1.5 or so per lb...

you should be making alot more power. look in to it. what was your a/f reading?? with your set up, you could be making 280+ to the wheels very safely at 10 lbs of boost. really just depends on your turbo size. maybe closer to 300.

12.0 or so all through the pass

It really depends on the turbo setup. Not all setups are created equal...

I didnt know that you were running hondata in the del sol. I asked, but a few people said you were running AEM. I would have came over and taken a look at your maps for you. As long as your distributor and hondata were syncronized, than you can be running .5 degree of retard per pound of boost. Your air/fuel was on point so you are solid on that aspect. You can pick up alot more horsepower by putting the timing back in, probably 30-40whp in your case. I noticed that your downpipe was something like 2inch. If you get a larger exhaust, downpipe your gains will be even greater. That is choking your engine up big time. Stock blocks can handle some abuse. I was putting down over 350whp on 93 octane a few months ago stock gsr bottom end, thicker headgasket, arp head studs and b16a head on 14lbs.

definitly fix that timing curve. .5deg retard would be perfect for ur car @ 7psi. u should see a big jump in power w/ that. other then that the #'s look quite accurate, my friend put down 227/180 on his b20vtec w/ revhard kit through a tiny 2.25exhaust.

With a thicker head gasket dont you have to run cam gears?

Those are decent numbers, not the best I've seen but there's always room for improvements. Nothing is perfect at first, it's all a process.

Good luck, and be safe hehehe.

i know of a crv/vtec that gained much higher rpms and about 10-15 whp from the addition of type-r cams. you should go with an AEM EMS to tune. the things are great. my friend has one and they are nutso. this way you dont have to send the ecu to hondata or use that b18c1 map. with that cr you should easily boost up to 12psi. and with the cams you should be making hellacious power. if i had the money i would of gone boosted crv/vtec.

What the fock are you talking about. R cams w/ boost? Sending the ecu to hondata? How about he swapps in a spoon motor and runs 20lbs on it. Then he would make hellacious power.

werd! speak on wit yo bad self brotha!

I wouldn't say hondata is bullshit, its working great on my car. as for type R cams, they are great if the overlap is dialed. GSR cams work great too that is not the issue here. most likely its the small fmax T04b and lower compression headgasket robbing power.

If the torque curve would hold out at 160 lb-ft to 8500 rpm, he would be making 259 whp.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try putting the timing back in, slowly. I'm going back to the dyno real soon, I'll post back the dyno #'s... Thanks for the advice, I didn't want to blow the motor the first time out

Yea, I need to upgrade the exhaust real bad. Running stock cat, tiny downpipe, and Pacesetter (WTF was I thinking?) cat-back.

Blew the Driver's side CV, have to replace that too... (wheel hop)

Why do people bust on Hondata? The stuff is off the hook Yo!
- 3 stage rev limiter
- Shift light
- VTEC crossover adjust
- High AND low cam timing AND fuel maps
- Datalogging
- Error code decoding
- Emulator/ map testing/ map modification
- Idle adjustment
- Open or closed loop O2 sensor operation and switchover adjustment
- Use with ANY widband O2 sensor (open loop)
- Retains Stock ECU

WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT? A SET OF ****?

I think next time we wear our "avitar's" as name tags. That way we'll know who's who.
