Anyone for a Scenic Skyline Drive H-T Meet?
Just trying to gauge some interest. Someone brought this up last year, and it'd be good for all of us to get together for a nice drive through the mountains on a spring day. Deal's Gap would be better, but its a little far away
However, i was thinking the weekend of April 28-29. This would be a scenic drive through the Blue Ridge, not a canyon carving event (hence why i'm not posting this in the Events/Meets forum) and driven somewhat close to the posted speed limit. I wouldnt want anyone's car in a guardrail for jackassing around.
We could pick up Syline south of Front Royal and drive south to Rte 33 - i could even arrange a small gathering at JMU afterwards.

Does anyone have any alternatives for dates? I'm trying to conform to this schedule

I'm in, just about any weekend. That's the most beautiful part of VA, IMHO...
PS- solosol and I had a related adventure earlier today. 8 hours/400 miles on some of the twistiest roads in VA, including the amazing Route 56 and the legendary Route 211 (which you'd be fools to NOT visit during any gathering of this kind!)

Count me in,

who loves some twisty roads

I don't have any pics of the Skyline Drive area, but I did drive it this past summer. I did the whole entire Blue Ridge Parkway as a matter of fact. Awesome views and awesome roads to drive on.
In case anyone wants to see what the area looks like, here are some pics of the Parkway west of I-77...

That might be fun if it doesn't compete with a weekend when I'm riding my road bike on Skyline, and if it does, please don't run me off the road
You are right about no canyon carving though, Every time I go up there (in a car) I seem to get stuck behind some lumbering Winnebago or some ****. Thats why I like biking it. The sensation of speed is a lot greater on a lightweight road bike.
Anyway. Let us know.

Count me in,
Y'all have fun. Now that the weather's nice most weekends you'll find me parked somewhere along it hiking or climbing. I might join the afterparty at JMU if I'm not otherwise occupied.
just thought you might like to know the original date is not a weekend
Morgan - who took 33 over the mountain yesterday
33 = weak!
211 is the shizz, right CJ??
No rear Swaybar and stock suspension with low brake fluid = unpredictable, understeering, no fun pig
