If you had $3500...
If you had $3500 and a stock 91 civic dx hatch what would you do? For speed!!
I was maybe thinking B16A, header back exhausts, cold air intake, vtec contoller, maybe some JE pistons to rebuild the B16A, and a bodykit for some looks...

I'd go B20vtec. Mild build on the bottom end ( i.e Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods), B16head, ITR cams, ITR intake manifold, ITR 4-1, catback exhaust and a K&N drop in filter. That would almost tap it if your doing it yourself. Might go over if you have someone else do the work. Thats what I'd do.

built d16 from dh-racing.160whp for $2025. Greddy turbo kit. if you get ahold of a used kit for $800-1200 you could have money for extras like injectors, rail, regulator so you could have more fuel to run more boost which equals the speed you want. http://www.dh-racing.com
I dont know what I'm going to do. This guy is suppose to buy my dirtbike tomorrow. So, I'll have a huge $3,500 to play with!!
$3,500 = At least high 13 second hatch?

if daily driven id go for b16a..if for drag use and some daily use id go d16a with a turbo..that would get 13's as the b16a would run 14's...and also are you gonna swap it yourself? cause if so you could do a ls/vtec or b18c5 swap for $3500..if you shop around..if you stay d16 series do boost..if b series N/A could still be fun...lots of mods for the D series these days make it hard for me to switch to a b
I'd do a nice built D-Series if you want to be different than all the B16's out there, or just do the good old b16a swap and some bolt-ons. But I think it's more of what you want, there's a lot of choices out there. Good luck.

Hands down. I would save for a C5 swap. You want a totally reliable, 13 sec hatch. Put in a type R. The only thing you would ever have to worry about would be oil changes and you would have a low 13 sec car. COMPLETE reliability.
The Type R head flows better than a ported GSR head, so even if you got a gsr you couldnt ever match what you already have. Oversized valves. Dual valve springs, all the goodies ..right out of the box.
If you go turbo there is a chance that you could blow up your engine. ANY engine you buy that you dont keep stock will always have a shorter live, and a chance of a failure somewhere.
13 sec. Stock engine. You cant beat it.

Stock B16, hydro trans with stock lsd and ATS 4.9 final and full gearset. A little over budget, but no one will touch it on the streets. hehehe....
Damn, everyone is doing some major brain storming! I might just go B16A for the reliability and performance in one package. Turbo kit alone for the D series cost $2500-$3,000! On top of the price I have to put out to buy a D series engine... I just want a low-mid 13 second car. I MIGHT get a body kit, havent decided yet.
Keep it up with the brain storming!
