Default headlight switch problems

I've heard this has been discussed on here before and I apologize if its been overdone, my head light ****/switch/whatever you want to call it has a point just after the headlights turn on where the headlights stay on but the running lights and interior lights go off, sometimes though it works and I can turn it all the way and both lights work fine till I put on my left turn signal then they all go out, I just want to know if there is a solution short of throwing in a new console?

Most likely the combo switch is bad. Only way to correct that is to replace it.

ok that makes sense, but when it comes to dash electronics I'll admit I'm not a champ so how much, is this an autozone/checker/pepboys kinda part or OEM honda is a must, and if you don't mind in more words or less if you could explain how the install goes that'd be great, thanks a lot

well..all I know is I got screwed by some Indian guy...told me I had to get a new one from Honda, which is good if you dont mind spending about 250 bucks just for a switch. But you can go find one at the yunkyard. As far as the installation, I didn't do it myself, so I don't really know, but im pretty sure is not so hard if you use one of those manuals.

thats a good idea going to the junk yard, and yeah I figured its prob in chiltons or mitchell on demand, and I think I got a source for one of those switches so I should be fine, I hope that one doesn't go bad, thanks again

I have an extra combo switch lying around I'll sell you cheap.... two things though:

1. the automatic turn signal return no longer works, you have to manually turn your turn signals off.

2. it's from a civic STD so there is no rear wiper control on it, but i think you can seperate the wiper control half from the signal / headlight half and use your wiper control. I'll double check that if you want.

replacing it's easy, pull the sterring wheel (one nut under the "H" emblem), then 2 philips screws and the whole assembly comes off.

I might take you up on that but I'm going to phoenix today and I might stop by the infamous Honda-Acura Salvage, the home of HASport
