Default HELP!!! Speed Sensor VSS on B16a swap HELP!!!

OK, so I got a B16a with an electronic speed sensor on the tranny and recently did a swap in my 91' CRX si which had a mechanical sensor. Without the sensor I can't have VTEC . What should I do? Convert to electronic, go with mechanical, or can I swap or salvage something from my old SI tranny which is mechanical, or get an electronic gauge cluster. Whatevers cheap and easy I can be happy with since im a broke person. Let a brotha know how you guys did it.

just use the mechanical VSS from your D series Si tranny. If you keep the electronic VSS then you have to find yourself an SiR cluster which will obviously be more expensive. HTH

No the cable driven VSS just has one retaining bolt. You can use the gear from the D-series, but it is not as wide as the B-series so it doesn't mesh with the output shaft very well. The fix is to remove the retaining clips on both and swap the gears over. You will notice the B-series shaft is longer, so you have to press the gear off, and then repress it on the D-series shaft. Then just reinstall the wider gear/shorter shaft into the cable drive housing, bolt it down, and your all set.

Your welcome and have a nice day,
Aaron.

you do not have to open up your trans to install the mechanical vss. just take off the old one from the top of your trans where the speedo cable came from and put it in the B16a trans. it should be held down by a little plate and 10mm screw. good luck . keep the electric vss in case you go SIR cluster in the future.
