Ok so I got my car back last thursday.
THat makes today 9 days back on the road...and its out of comission again.
I took it to Abacus racing today in Va Beach to have it tuned since i had the pistons and rods put in.
Shad tuned it.
Awesome guy, awesome tuner.
It made 306whp on 14psi. <-------Street
Then we tossed some race gas in, and went for track boost.
We got to tuning at 17psi and the head lifted and cracked a sleeve
Needless to say, I was pissed. It had ARP head studs, and shad was concerned from the getgo. It let the head lift, just like he suspected.
SOOOOO...Im just going to get it resleeved. Dart sleeved. **** the bullshit.
22psi here I come.

they said it was like 1000 for the block sleeved, machined, decked and ready to be put in the car. I saw a finished b16 block next to a golden eagle block....and the difference is unreal.

Yeah, i'm going with Darton sleeves as well. If something goes wrong with one of them, i only have to replace that one single sleeve, rather than replacing all four like other manufacturers..
Darton OwNzjOoO!

dont worry my situation was worse. My sleeve cracked on the dyno before i even drove it, at around 13psi. Thats in the past, now I have darton sleeves...ultimate in sleeving. Putting on a new wastegate, motor mounts, boost controller and maybe a new turbo, should have numbers up this month some time. btw your sig mentions 384 hp at 15 psi but your post says 306 hp at 14 psi (street). Is it a different cars, turbo or am i missing something?

I feel so bad for you Derek. It was nice meeting you but DAMN i wish you had better luck, my sleeve cracked at the track. All I remember was the dyno pull and damn coolant is coming towards my eyes hit me in the head but it didn't scold me wheew! I brought you those plugs, I have some 84.5mm psitons at the shop actually, need one since one is bad $140 for the one new slug. Abacus will take care of you, if I have problems again I will get them to sleeve one of my spare blocks. Seth is a SUPER smart Guy and a good head porter engine builder, he lives eats breaths engines, he is LITERALLY in that shop 7 days a week about 16-17 hours a day. Hope everything works out for you, hit me up AIM Boostfed1320 Also your power was higher than that if I remember correctly up to 340whp I thought. You may want to look into some AEBS studs also but it's up to you.

arp or stock head bolts the head should not lift unless there are some kinda crazy cylinder pressures. detonation style cylinder pressures.
im sorry u blew your motor man good luck w/ the rebuild this time hope the tuning goes better next time around.

hmm...if your head lifted I don't see how getting a sleeved block is gonna help you or would have helped you (If I'm not mistaken)...it sound more like poor tuning (severe detonation) or your head wasn't torqued down to spec...

I guessed wrong. When we started to pull the head off, the head studs were not very tight. If only they had been torqued down again, i would have been driving my car right now instead of purging my brain to come up with another $2000.

Shoulda woulda coulda eh?

Just my 2 cents....
I had a similar situation 2 years ago.
My stock motor held for a whole year then the #3 piston ring land cracked.
My car sat for 4 months then I finally decided to work on it.
I did not even pull the motor out, just took off the head, and ghetto built my internals. Threw in JE pistons and Eagle rods.
Did it in two weeks, and crossed my fingers to see if it even started. And it did.
Three days later, the car started to smoke, and I thought it was the rings (not seat properly).
Took the head off, the rod pin on #2 came off and scared the sleeve. No more ghetto builds for me.
Learned my lesson. Do it right the first time....what a waste of money.
Good Luck on your next build.

Were the ARP headstuds retorqued after a certain time period?(1000miles/10heat cycles?)
yup...dude....sorry to hear it...unless the dude is a pro and does this **** everyday...I'd be breathing down his neck making sre everything is torqued to spec. I think that guy should take some responsibility in engine damage.
Even the garage who did my car was responsible enough to ask for the torque specs on my engine so that they could do it right. I figured that the $70 investment in a Helms manual is a lot better than the $2000+ damage it could cause doing educated guesses.

Sorry to hear about that man, but you did put down some good number before hand, Shad is an amazing tuner!! Him and Terry tuned my beast too...
