These are all with a really shitty camera. Also, my welder ran out of Argon, so the collector is not finished...I thought Id post my progress so far...
From a ways back:
You can Kinda see the inside:
The inside pointy thing. I thought it would be impossible, but after some messing around, and a really simple trick, I got it
I got to some of the inside walls before the gas ran out....
A close-up of my weld...the little dings are from the vice...NOT weld spatter...
This would be better suited to a T4 turbo inlet, but for the application that this is designed for, I think it will flow just fine.
Once I get some more argon, the wastegate flange will be added as well...
Next weekend this is going on a tubular manifold that will support a Turbonetics T3/T4 turbo. Setup is around 12 psi w/tial wastegate, VAFC hack in an LS swapped '89 four door Civic...should be VERY fun

Looks great tinky. Do you plan on selling soem collectors? I may need a few
ya, anyway, It took 2 tries to get it....and of course on the third my welder runs out of gas
I am actually going to be selling complete manifolds, but hell, if the collectors take off, they are even cheaper to produce yet

$60 stainless, $40 mild steel sound good????

they arent THAT good, but Im sure the pictures scew the image a little. Geoff has a certified welder doing all of his work. Ive only been TIGging for around two weeks
Im getting pretty good...once I get my stainless order next week, I should be posting some really purty concoctions...including a tubular stainless mani that shouldnt be more than $350....

How thick is the guage, and do you have to wait for your stainless shipment to make it? I'm trying to get my manifold finished asap and i need a collector

Ya, I dont have any stainless in my garage...so I have to wait until about the end of this week.
Actually, its a lot easier to have the collector made first, and then base the rest of the manifold off that. But I can make one over next weekend.
I can either do schedule 40 or schedule 10, stainless or mild....
I would leave some extra length on each runner so that you could custom tailor anything that may need to be done....

That welding looks horrible! Such a difference between the collector and the manifold
I take it the manifold was MIG welded
TIG rocks...I will never go back, unless its to tack something together under the car...then it goes on the bench to be TIGed
its migged with SS wire. I never said it looked grreat, i'm not that great of a welder, never said i was. I'll grind em down later. The brown **** will come off with a good sand blast.
Uberteg thinks your ECU platform sucks, and that you should upgrade to a real ECU.
edit: Oh, yeah, the welding looks like it's coming right along. Keep that one you have now, that looks just fine, and compare it to what you're turning out in another two weeks, and again in another month. You're gonna love it. Everything starts looking like it was formed by the hand of god and not some mere mortal...
