best to get them from the dealer - alot of times what comes from the hardware store isnt as good as OE.

Lowe's has M8x1.25 bolts, my roomate had to pick up a pair this morning to pop the brake rotors off his hubs (rusted on).

ACE Hardware is one of the places I've found that carries some higher grade metric. They don't restock very often though.

maryland metric in baltimore has metric fasteners from ordinary class 8.8 all the way to aerospace quality. they are on the web and take phone orders.

I would heartily recommend that we all stay VERY far away from even the "graded" hardware at the big outlets - Lowes, et al. I used to make it standard practice to buy handfuls of useful, undamaged hardware every time I would go to the U-pick parts yards. I'd hold out my hand and they'd say, "one buck" or "two bucks." The OEM hardware from Honda and VW are pretty damned good and I would NEVER replace one in an important application with a recycled-steel Chinese fastener from Home Despot.

i would have agreed with you until we had no choice and used bolts from a Home Depot in a friends Jeep (for the springs and shackles), many off road miles later (2 years worth) and they are still in perfect shape
But if you have a choice go OEM
