usdm bumper rebar used in jdm conversion?
when doing the jdm front-end conversion, is it possible to use the stronger and thicker usdm bumper rebar? couldn't find anything in the searches.
I know six guys that have done the conversions, and none of them used their usdm rebar. That JDM rebar doesn't look like it'll hold up in any kind of front end collision.
yes you can, depending on the bumper... I have the Cwest kit and it first just fine, but you need to trim the styrofoam part...
But in regards to making the USDM Bumper support into a JDM bumper support, just drill out the welds holding the middle bar and remove it, then use the ends and attach a bar into the sides...
Look at the USDM bumper support and you'll understand what I am talking about for the hole... Hope this helps.

You can use the USDM bumper support on the JDM OEM bumper. It will take some work but you can do it. Just pull out the handy die grinder whatever other tools you need and go to work.
first off the bat learn how to drive the itr 2nd take it to a bodyshop to do the conversion right so u can blame someone else for ******* up holla

I have a 98. A body shop did the work, but I got the parts from an importer. They blamed each other for the missing rebar (I think the body shop either lost it or used it on another car). I am pretty sure they had the mounting brackets and where just missing the bar. It has been almost 8 months since I had the work done so my memory is a little rusty. But they went to work and made the USDM bar work. I would have ordered a JDM bar from options (they are pretty cheap) but it was already Thursday evening and I had to have the car back Sunday.
the cwest front bumper is really nice, already got the rear one on the dc2, working on getting the front. talked to the body shop and they said the usdm rebar will fit for the jdm conversion, but it all depends on the kind of bumper ur getting. if what serenity says is true, then i'm all game, no need to buy the rebar.

hey i did my conversion and yes the usdm rebar works if you can get an aftermarket front bumper to go over it then go for it. if not then you will need to cut it .. not much . use your judgement. also yes the usdm rebar will bolt to the jdm rad suport. its the same and finally just cut the damn thing have fun do it yourself if you cut a little to much of the ends or whatever it is ok cause if you hit anything head on the febar is not going to do much to begin with ....
