Default need accord owners help

Hey guys. I am replacing my sisters 97 accord exhaust and I cant get the bolts off the cat (i tried a search already for this topic). Are they welded on and you just remove the nuts from the exhaust side? they are like rectangular looking and i cant get them to loosen. thanks for the help.

If it's an OE system, shouldn't be any welded nuts.
Rusted exhausts are just a bitch, Liquid Wrench and all the lb-ft you can muster.

I am letting it sit in "liquid wrench" over night.....hard to try and get at them when the car is only on ramps.......

Tapping it with a hammer can help break the rust loose too.

that is why i thought they were welded on. I got the nuts off the back and took the old exhaust off, but the bolts are mad rusted on the CAT so i hit them with a hammer to "push" them through and they didnt budge, so i figured they were welded to the cat and i would just have to reuse them, the only problem is the nuts were so rusted (im gonna get so flamed for this) I cut them off and F*cked up the bolts so that is why i cant use them again....

You can knock out the studs and use bolts instead.

take off exhaust in FRONT of the cat, then it will be WAY easier to get that nut on the top.
