Will the stock crx hood still close with a zc?
I need to know if a the stock hood will shut or if there is a way to rig it to shut without making it look stupid. etc like cutting out some of the support bars under the hood and maybe adding a washer to the hinges. It looks like the only place it will hit is by the timing belt. I need a reply within 30 mins. I have to go to my parents house to finish the swap.
Thanks
Thanks
Well, good luck. I've heard some people are able to fit it without it rubbing the timing belt cover, i've heard that some people can't. If you don't wanna cut the webbing away and it rubs, you have two options: run the ZC without the timing belt cover and risk rubbing the actual timing belt and ripping it, or buy a ZC hood. Those are the only options I know of.
maybe ask this question in the ef/crx forum? -just a thought.
HUH? i thought we were in the ef civic/crx forum.

Im leaving now. I didnt want to spend any more money than I have to on the crx. I had to replace all motor mounts misc. bolts, belts, and hoses. Plus the motor and car. I spent way more than I thought I was going to.
ZC=$800
All mounts and belts=$220
car=$500
hoses and bolts=$40
I had aobut $3K saved up for a turbo or SC for my '98 civic ex/si. But its hard to pass up an '89 crx si for 500.

I have a stock hood on my 91 CRX HF, and i have a DOHC ZC Motor. Of course my car didnt have the timing cover, i just bought one, so im going to see if it will close with the cover. I figure it would because the cover is about flush with the Valve Cover isnt it? JUst a thought. Thanks.
i dont kno if th zc sits higher then the b16 but my 91 hf hood closes with no problem at all...but why would u just cut out the supports...if it doesnt clear the motor then cut out those things where you need to and thats it...no need to get a new hood
yes the stock hood will work just fine. if you ever want to go with an aftermaket ask to test fit the hood first b/c most of the aftermaket hoods do not work with a zc b/c of the valve cover
I find that it really depends on the car... some people have problems, others don't. You could always try to lower the motor with washers, and cut out the supports like some have mentioned, but just try it stock first.
Yes it definately depends on your car. Some work and others don't. i have a ZC in my hatch and the cover hit the hood, i just notched out a piece of the support from the hood, now it works fine.
