Stupid JDM Shift boot...
Anyone else have a problem with the JDM shift boot being really "tight"? I know its a dumb question but its valid. Since I had to replace mine I figured Id get something for my car that was JDM y0! Mine is so tizzite that it almost wants to pop back into neutral when I have it in second or forth gear. Maybe because its cold outside? Now I am using a non-itr shift console, but I was told they were the same but maybe they arent. It bolted up just fine and appears to be the same though.
When I had mine installed I noticed it was a lot tighter than the stock one. It is especially noticible in 2nd, 4th, and reverse. I used to hold the shifter in gear so it wouldn't pop out. You could always take it out and stretch it a bit. That is what I ended up doing.

I pushed down the opening which has plastic retainer that tighten on the shaft and the boot had lot of slack like USDM oem one. NO problem at all.
yea if you have the boot pulled all the way up to the top and locked towards the top, then it will be tight. But if its set up like the picture above, I havent had a problem.

i got it back on...i just removed that little nubs on the inside of the ring and now it slides down far enough and isnt too tizzite. i nearly just decided to cut off the ring entirely
you can just shave off those little things that stick out on the bottom of the plastic piece, so that it will slide down the shifter more, or you can just get a short shifter, so that the shift throws will be shorter, so it won't have to go as far.
Just get a B&M short shifter with energy suspension bushings. Then your shifter will sit lower and you won't have a problem with the JDM shift boot being so tight.
It will be tight for the stock shifter though. I had that problem then i got the B&M.
