Default Apex'i World Sport vs. Greddy Sp vs. RS*R Invidia vs. Tanabe Super Hyper Med

i'm thinking about getting one of the above exhausts. I need it to be as quiet as possible, while maintaining a good flow. could some of you who have these exhaust give a quick review on them?

on a scale of 1-10 please rate their flow (10 = more flow/more high-end gains) and their noise (10 being loudest) both at WOT and cruising.

this should be a good guide for some of us who are deciding which exhaust to get.

TIA

I have experience with the Greddy and Apex WS. I'd rate the Greddy a 9 on flow, an 8 cruising noise, and an 8 at WOT. The world sport I'd rate an 8 on flow, a 7 cruising and an 8 at WOT. Of the 2 I prefer the Apexi WS though mine seems to have developed a slight rattle in the canister. I just dig a mild mannered exhaust that can really howl when you stomp it.

Umm some exhuast will make you loose HP and some will make you gain HP...Before you Buy an Exhaust match up your set up with other peoples that have Dynoed ther car and go from there...

I have a 1.8L gsr with 12.5 compression and a Skunk2 manifold and Crower63402a cams and Other goodies and i had a Greddy SP and I can feel the power loss at 8200 rpms.. So i sold the Greddy and got a Apexi N-1 and WOW what a diffrence....But i really needed the straight threw design and better piping because now i have Skunk2 stage 3 cams...

So it comes down to your hole motor set up...
And im sure those other exhaust you listed are going to be the same as each other..

But for the greddy SP i give it a 6 for flow and 6 for sound and 6 for WOT..

I got the RS*R exhaust old school type and not the invidia type.

build quality=10
flow= 8
sound=10 any quieter it would be considered stock.
price= cheaper then all others

somebody on this board has a RS*R sound clip check it out.

the best bang for your buck on street cars. for race cars get something else.

The GReddy SP IS a straight through exhaust, all the way though, the Apezi World Sport isn't. I have one sitting downstairs I'll be glad to take pics and show the straight throughness...

Thats great Koala Yummies...But the Greddy Sp has nothing on the Apexi N-1..The piping is a whole lot better and the resonater has better flow...The Sp might have a straight through design but the resonater sucks and the piping has too many bends...

If you people are looking for Hp and TQ numbers then get something that FlOWS...
If your looking to get low sound at WOT and trying not to attract to much attention then stick with stock...Or a greddy SP OR a Apexi WS

I had the full invidia cat back n/1 system scored it for 450 bucks before they were even known of.. it was a really good exhaust it was pretty loud though as the apex1 n1 is.... if there was a choice between those two then I would go invidia...

The apex1 n1 has some shitty *** piping while the invidia is studier... is all stainless, has nice thick *** flanges and comes with all necc gaskets and there should be no clearance issues with a 1.5 drop...

I kept getting tickets recently for juts having a modified exhaust but it wasnt because of the noise levels, it was just cops being cops...

The greddy sp is a good quiet system and the rsr also has a quiet type exhaust, i believe rsr just re released their products to the us and I have a friend runnin a supercharged si with the rsr sp on there and its pretty sweet... Cant even hear the car!

I currently have the invidia mid pipe modified to fit a mugen twin loop on the end because ill be damned if i pay 350 for a t1r midpipe when I have essentially the same ****!

So when I get my engine back ill let you know what I think.

I have the Tanabe Super Hyper Medalion and i like it. Its very good quality at idle sounds almost as quiet as stock. Flow I think is good but I do have a cat so that makes a diference. And its not raspy at around 3-4500rpm its all deep uniform sound, at the top it gets higher pitched but not raspy.

noise at idle 2
noise at WOT 7
flow 6-7

You guys are very wrong in your ratings of flow on the WS. The WS should be on the lowend of the scale....why do you think it is quiet like stock? Answer, a very restrictive muffler.

That's a very usefull post Ross. I'm sure that'll help alot of people. Fortunately there are exhausts to suit everybody's acceptable noise limits. I agree the N1 does flow well, I just can't tolerate an exhaust that gets me pulled over everytime I accelerate from a stop light, sounds like angry bees, and drones so loud you go tone deaf on the highway.

It's not all that restrictive. I made 198WHP w/ a WS on my car. It's a nice comprimise IMO, additionally it's cheaper than all the other exhausts we've been discussing.

I have a super hyper med and love it. It's quiet at idle. But At 8000 rpm's even V8 guys turn there head. It comes with a straight resonator. I sold my n1 becaus eit was to loud. Tanabe all the way.

a good flowing muffler is independent of it's dB level

i just bought a WS today at the apexi garage sale. i must say, apexi's craftsmanship is no where near greddy's craftsmanship (i used to own a greddy evo). i painted the canister, we'll see how it flows...

That's an inaccurate statement if I ever heard one.

take a look at twinlooped mufflers. they flow as well as straight thrus and are as quiet as chambered mufflers. it's all in design imo

That's an inaccurate statement if I ever heard one.

I purchased the WS exhausts back in October of last year, and since then, I haven't stopped smiling yet. It is a very quiet exhaust, and at WOT it doesn't get to much attention. I would say flow is a 8 in midrange, and 7 at WOT, and in the sound dept, I would give it a 5 at idle and 7 at WOT. Again, very nice exhaust, and yes it does put out in the power dept. I went from a 2.5 custom setup to the WS and noticed a moderate power increase throughtout the power band. Hope this helps.
