HID Question????
Hey, if i get a 6000k hid kit. would I be able to later convert it to 4300K by buying the bulb and swaping it out? Where do u buy the replacment HID bulb and wat is the difference between ds2 and d2r? Thanks.
They use the same ballasts.
You can buy the bulb from any HID kit distributor such as http://www.xenondepot.com but the bulb cost around $100 each, so I would just buy one that I really like.
I recommend 4K series bulbs, they are brighter.

yea you can... depends if your wiring from the ballast to the bulb match the new bulbs you are getting. ive been looking for 4300K for the hella ballast system. but i've been having problems finding 4300k bulbs that extactly fit my kit. my ballast to my bulbs are wired with only two plugs matching up from the bulb to the ballast. does anyone know of any place that has that type of setup for 4300K bulbs for sale? ive searched high and low... please help!!!

I thought all kits were the same, just the HID bulbs are different (4300K-8000K)?? Doesn't the HID bulb connects to a wire that splits down to 2 plugs that plugs into the ballast? Also, wat is the difference in ds2 and d2r. The cheapest I found 4300K bulbs are 156 for one. Hey, will OEM HID acura bulbs work too?
well thats wat i thought i at first too, but there are different kits. some are made from germany and there are some that are made in korea i think... the real phillips kit has one full covered red plug that leads out to the hid bulb... i've got the kit with two plugs at the end... but misterjung sells a retrofit wiring system so u can use the single red plug. there are even ones that misterjung sells that have 3 plugs... i was told from SPP (some performance place in OC that does european cars ie.bmw' audi) that the ones with the two plugs are cheaper made than the phillips with the single red plug. because the red plug ones are the OEM ones... and to answer the d2s and d2r question... the d2r's are made for reflective housing and d2s are made for projector housing.

Do I need to buy a HID bulb that has the 2 wire connected to the bulb or does that come off? ON the mccullochhid they said they have to use their own bulbs and not other ds2 or d2r . Does anyone know if the mccullochhid's hid bulb is connected with 2 wires as 1 piece or does the bulb come off the wire also? Thanks.

im pretty sure of the plugs match and fit then there should be no problem. But maybe muculloch has a different setup... looking at the pic my system doesnt have the smaller black box there... mines a HELLA ballast setup with two plugs.
why would u buy the 6000K kit in the first place if u want 4300K's anyways? 6000K is a waste of money IMO.. purple ground light and it doesnt look OEM at all to oncoming traffic..
actually I bought a 4300K hid kit but I was just giving an example about replacing bulb. I'm just trying to figure out if these bulbs blow, where would I be able to get some good ones to replace them.
