An HONEST opinion, need help please!
what's up everyone, i've come to respect a lot of information on this board, it seems that a lot of you guys really know what you're talking about so i'd like to ask a very simple question, but please don't answer it with a bias opinion...
alright, i'm deciding right now between purchasing a 2000 or 2001 integra type r or either a 2002 or 2003 RSX type S
my question is simply this...which car is better as far as performance goes...i know the type r is lighter, louder (stock), has fewer luxuries, etc... i know the rsx uses a whole new engine, there's fewer parts available, and it's a little heavier and more tuned towards luxury...
but just wondering compared side by side bone stock without the factor of money or condition (say they're both immaculate) which one would you guys pick?
i'd love to hear opinions from everyone, and please be honest...
thanks in advance,
mike

99.5% of everyone in this forum will say the DC2-R, I share their sentiments.
They don't even compare. I've driven both quite often.
I'd never buy an RSX-S. Mostly because I have an R.

you don't come on an ITR board and ask if they'd rather choose an R or an RSX-S. the opinions will obviously be very biased, but if you need to know, pound for pound, the itr is a better car if you ask me...

i'd pick the type R simply bc they are so hard to find...
you can always get an RSX anytime you want...
but miss out on the R and who knows when the next opportunity will be
btw...CW owns Phairy Yellow

yeah, but it's hard to find an rsx/type r board, this is the best i could do, can i ask you guys if you ever get sick of the road noise from the car? i commute (30 min) back and forth every day...do you think it would get old after a while???
I say RSX only because it has that cool *** climate control that you just set the temperature you want the car to be at and it does the rest of the work for you. My Jeep had that **** and I miss it more than anything.

You should go ask an Acura dealer which you should get... They have this silly little book comparing the two of them the sales guy showed me last year when the RSX first came out. It basically said that the ITR had 195HP, the RSX has 200HP and leather, therefore RSX > R

okay....tell me if you guys think this is accurate....and yeah what road noise, i'll be putting on an intake/header/exhaust anyway....
rsx = if you want a luxury/sporty car
type r = if you want a race/sport car
and yeah i've driven 3 already....nothing will beat how nice and loud the vtec is!
i think i've already made up my mind, i was just wanting to hear some good things about the r and hear some bad things about the rsx!
thanks guys!

Here is my opinion. I have driven the RSX-S and yes it is more luxury than sports minded. I would say that only certain people can appreciate the R's. All of us were willing to ditch all of the luxuries like sunroof, sound deadening, cruise control, etc. to get one of the most responsive cars on the market. The R begs you to learn how to drive it well and it rewards you with smoothe power and insane stock handling capabilities.
If you are looking for a car that is decently powered, but also want all of the luxuries then get the RSX-S. If you want a car that can run down all the newer cars coming out on the road course, then the R is your kind of car. If it were my choice I would pick the R every time.
But if you don't have a garage, I might consider the rsx-s. Other wise you might not be able to sleep at night.

RSX is an overweight, bloated pig that doesn't handle anything like the R. The engine is fun, gearbox is ok ( a bit sloppy ) and it is comfortable inside. But, you can't 'sink in' to the car and I never really felt at home driving it.
R owns RSX-S. Hands down.
Stop trying to compare!
What do you want in a car? That is most important.

i will, i'd love to be involved in the local meets and stuff like that too
it's just hard to find one that's not outrageously expensive...i don't mind paying a little more for one that's in great shape but some people are trying to make money off their original sticker price
i really don't wanna pay any more than 20k for a 2001 py or 19k for a 2000
i think that's fair!?!?!?!
the other thing, have any of you raced an rsx-s, just wondering what the results are stock to stock
and also, how do i get this trial member thing off????
