Default Has anyone tried the "H&R Spring Cup Kit"?

well i was looking back through all my old magazine and it was in SCC about the EG project that had these on.

Does anyone have them? what do you think about it?
-Basically it's a combo kit, that uses Koni rebound-adjustable shocks that are specially valved/made for the H&R springs.

any input is welcomed. I'm looking for a nice comfterbale ride that can be stiffend up when needed. Only street driven no track raced.

I bought this kit for my EK but never have put it on. Like you said, it's basically a set of Koni Yellows and some H&R springs. It's a decent setup for the street, but I'm sure you could accomplish the same thing by buying the pieces seperately.

I called H&R to get the spring rates of my kit and they told me "that information isn't available for release". WTF is that about?

I was told by a H&R rep that Cup Kit springs are 30-40% stiffer than stock on an Integra. Where as Sport springs are 25-30% stiffer than stock. Basically the cup kit springs are more agressive than H&R sport springs but less aggressive than their race springs.

From the research I've done the Cup Kit is the perfect product for anyone who is looking to lower their car 2 inches while improving performance and keeping ride quality fairly high. I was going to go with a H&R Race Spring/Koni Yellow setup, but I think the Cup Kit will give me the same looks, better ride quality, and almost as good performance, all at a lower price (apx $600).

Do any of you guys know of any online stores where you can buy the cup kit, I only know of one.
cheers

Mike

Try tire rack - but in the end a Koni/GC setup will allow you more flexibility than having OE-type springs.

Thanks, but that's the one site I knew of.

I have reservations about coil-over sleeves like GC, and if I was going to go that route I would probably just shill out the extra cash for full coilover like Tein's or H&R's. I also think the Cup Kit would ride better than Koni/GC.

Depends on what rates. I have 375/450 on my car, and on the highway with shocks on full soft its really not much different.

In the city its a little choppy though, but not bad at all.

Options Auto sells them - http://www.optauto.com - They're too expensive though.

There's currently someone selling them at GroupBuyCenter -

I recently put a koni/GC setup on my GSR. I was surprised at how well it rode on smooth or even slightly rough streets. Running 400/300 the car is smooth and still corners great. Haven't autocrossed this set up yet but I am anticipating good results.

400/500 on my GCs w/ Yellows and it rides and turns better (IMO) than my roommate's WRX w/ H&R Cup coilovers.

FYI: the rumors and talk about the inferiority of Koni/GC seem to be unfounded at best, blatant lies at worst.

Koni/GC setups are often bouncy, even when re-valved for higher rates. This isnt unfounded or a lie.

i have never ridin in a car with GC and Koni and been displeased. A total of 4 of my freind's have them and i ride in there cars alot and never have i felt a bouncey feeling. In some cars the ride is rougher, but that is because of the spring rate and they tend to be relativly low. But IMO if you get the GC koni setup and have a full sleve it is money well spent

I wasnt saying its a good setup or not money well spent. Thats what i put on my Integra. However as the spring rates go up (600-1000 lbs) a setup like Zeal, Mugen or Buddy Club is going to be less bouncy than a revalved Koni/GC setup.

And why is this?

well, my experience with bounciness and revalved koni's was that the tires i was using were so much softer then the springs/shocks that i had problems with the tires making the car bouncy. to say that one setup is bouncy as a general rule isn't really fair. there are so many other factors, the major one being suspension travel. even with my shortened shocks i still only have 1.5" or so of bump travel, measured at the wheel.

nate-who's very happy with his revalved koni/gc setup.
