is that exospeed **** really that fast?

i dont know turbo isnt going to be real reliable tho and id like to do it right so its going to cost alot all at once with all motor u do a lil at a time and turbos are mad confusing to me...

You might want a second opinion on this, turbos involve more tuning at one point but there are plenty of daily driving hybrid turbos.

there was a loooong post recently that exospeed was involved in, i kinda hijacked teh post from teh originator, anyways... from everything that was discussed & exospeeds site, their all motor d series packages look like they can contend, but it's all about what you want. if you are on a budget you may not want to do teh diy turbo b/c you will still need dyno time, and good tuning & that can potentially get expensive, if you want reliable exospeed's blocks/heads are rebuilt & cleaned & you can get stock or modded from them- that sounds much more reliable than a junkyard turbo, but yet again, it's all about preference.........either way good luck

well all I can say is if you do decide on a turbo setup. Do it right and get the proper parts, and dont half *** it. an sohc turbo setup is good even with a stock head. headwork on a turbo sohc, helps especially if you do decide to upgrade the valvetrain. which will let you take the rpms up higher. the best thing you can do to a boosted setup is the bottom end. the motor will hold better and boost more.

For all motor, you have to concentrate on the head and cam choice more than turbo setups. high compression bottom end with the appropriate cam can get you some nice HP numbers and great performanc if done right.

Wil

I'm gonna ***** this topic before I start a new one, since i'm thinking of doing the same thing. I'm going to rebuild the A6/Z6 mini-me in my 91Si. It's kinda my beater car, and it smokes a bit as it is. I'm looking too add some more pep to it. Something that'll pull till at most 8k. A bugeted build-up with mostly stock parts is my route. Here is my "**** list" of upgrades.

- A6 block -
ACL bearings
Rods - don't know A6 or ZC/A1 ?
Pistons - 88-89 Teg/ZC

-Z6 Head -
Mild Cam - recommendations?
Springs/reatainers
Port match

-other stuff-
Y8 intake mani
Chipped ECU with better fuel/timing maps
Other bolt-on crap.

This ought to be good for 12:1 compression and some decent HP figures. It should be *relatively* cheap since you can use mostly stock parts. I may skip the top-end build if it's gonna cost too much. I put the Z6 head on my A6 block and the VTEC didn't impress me too much. Then again I am running a RPM switch setup on an 88 teg ECU ...

What is the car going to be used for? What kind of power are you looking to get?
