Is it just your spoiler that is damaged or is it your trunk lid also? Depending on what your deductible is, it may be cheaper for you to fix it on your own. From my experience, your insurance tends to go up after repeated claims.

it might go up since your putting in a claim. if it is only the wing maybe get a quote to find out how much the cost is. knock on wood but maybe you should save it for something else that may arise.

Can't you go after the dude who assaulted you?

Otherwise, it could be filed as vandalism (I would think), and would be covered under comprehensive.

Just be glad someone landed on it instead of someone stealing it. My "wing removal" cost the insurance company almost $2500

Well, lets break down how insurance works -

Firs off, IF YOU MAKE ANY CLAIM with your insurance agent, your rates will go up.
PPL who have a low deductible fail to realize that sometimes, that no matter how much it is, insurance will still take that back from your pockets when it comes time to renew your insurance.

To be honest, you can go wingless like a lot of the ppl have suggested because its not too bad looking and its cheap. If you can, go after the ****** that was assaulting your friend. you can make it a legal issue but the catch is paying for the lawyer up front. To my knowledge, it works like this.
Whatever you sue the guy for splits up into 3 portions, one for you, one for the car's damages and injuries if there were any ( ie hospital bills n stuff ).
You can squeeze more outta that guy if you wanted to sue him because of Pain and suffering ( go see the doctor a messload of times ) but it only comes through if you do end up winning the case. In most cases, you will win because its assault and its a legal charge. Anyways, insurance will mess with you if you make a claim through them.

Lets say your deductible is 200 bucks and thats how much it costs to fix your car, sure you'd break even. But after that, your rates will go up because you made a claim through them. You lose that scenario.

Lets say you sue the guy and everything turns out ok. The guy will be paying for damages to your car and you don't have to pay squat. You win.

Lets say you go wingless and not do jack, you're still wingless. You Lose.

Lets say your deductible is 500 bucks like mine, if its only gonna costs 600 bucks to replace your wing plus paint and install at the bodyshop, you pay the 500, and your car gets replaced. You lose out on 500 bucks.

Lets say you find a matching wing on Ebay for 150 bucks shipped, you lose out on 150 but you get your car back to normal in the most cost effective way.

I hoped this helped man. Good luck with your ride man.

To get your car back to its original form while avoiding an insurance claim, file a small claim against the assailant. You have a police report, hopefully that documents the damage done to your car, it should be fairly straight forward. Oh, remember to get a few estimates on the repair cost if you plan to take the guy to court.

I agree. A comprehensive claim is a "no fault" claim. I haven't heard of rates going up from a comprehensive claim such as vadalism.

Post pics of the damage so that we can see how bad it is. He must of hit your Type R really hard because that wing is really stiff. I could understand if it was a replica. Fake spoilers are cheap as ****. What happened to cause this anyway?

Aren't insurance cos great? You pay a small fortune for "coverage" then when something happens and you actually need it you're better off fixing it yourself.

well, my insurance agent is a good friend of the family's with Allstate and he says that if he needs to get involved with anything, Allstates gonna jump the rates. Maybe its just a difference in insurance companies but it does make sense that there is coverage like that. Its odd though, maybe i was mislead?
