To heck with the SRT-4. Just drove an Evo 8!
Well, I went down to my local Mitsu dealer (Fairfield - Nor Cal). They had 3, Red, Silver and Yellow. Nice car actually.
They are currently putting a 5k mark up on. But I probably could have gotten it for MSRP. But I wasn't ready, cause I still have my S4.
Anyrate, took a test drive. The handling is AWESOME. I can't get over how stiff the suspension is. That is the shining point of the car. The engine was tight yet, I only used 3/4 throttle to about 6k RPM. Good power, very nice midrange. No turbo lag. The headlights are nice. The interrior is very sparce. The tail lights really suck.
I really don't see it as a car that I'd buy, but I wanted to experience it anyway. Enjoy!

i read the current evo. the japanese EVO VIII is rated at 276hp, however the mitsu engineers actually think it's closer to 307hp.
the car MAY be underrated.. but i dunno.

I wouldn't doubt the 8 being underrated (at least in Japan) because of Japanese government regulations. Of course, it would be cool to see Japanese manufacturers advertise numbers closer to actual spec here in the States. It would be a bit of a reversal of the, "We never get that stuff here!" comment.

The EVO is a very nice car, but I believe that the STI will outsell and out run it.
Reefer! For a minute there I thought you were gonna get the Evo. Can you imagine all the ricer that will rev on you on the way to work. Great review!
My local dealership just took delivery of two yesterday. I am hoping to go and check them out tonight, and I will take some pics. They are both sold though so no test drives

I recently saw a Best Motoring video (or maybe it was Hot Version) where they raced a stock EVO vs. a stock STi around a track. The STi won, but the EVO stayed on his *** the entire time, so they looked pretty evenly matched. Of course this is subjective based on the drivers.

The Evo also is a 6 speed in JDM land with all of their electronical goodies like AYC.
