Default Is there a conversion between wire GAUGE and AWG?

I order a Distribution block and it said 2Gauge into 8Gauge on the website. Now that I have it on it's box it says 4AWG into 8AWG. Should it work with my 2Gauge wires. Is there a correlation between them, like SAE is to Metric or something. I would like to know which ones are the same so I know they fit.

yeah you got the wrong part apparently. 2GA and 2AWG is the same size. Nothing different in sizes accually just how its written.

If I just trim down the wire so the end is 4 gauge size it should still work out fine, it shouldn't matter, cuz 2gauge is massive.

what are you using it for?? Relo battery to the trunk, if yes, you can trim it down to 4ga he11 thats what I've always used, now if your running a huge amp and massive system and need 2ga better get the right part ship it back.....

Maybe this will help-
Wire
The measurement system for wire is also interesting. AWG stands for "American Wire Gauge" and is a standard in the United States for wire diameters. In a house, you typically find 10, 12 and 14 gauge wire, and electronics projects typically use 20 gauge wire. Wire gauges run from 000000 gauge, which is about half an inch in diameter, down to 40 gauge, which is 0.001 inches. The higher the AWG number, the thinner the wire.

Go here for a chart- http://science.howstuffworks.com/fra...ire_gauge.html
Hope this helps
