Default Think this might hurt performance slightly?

Check out what I did to my downpipe when my back motor mount decided to take a Sh*t on me... FYI, this is a CHEATED bend 2.25" DP on a 3/4 Garrett hydrid'd B16a. .50 compressor, .48 standard turbine.

[edit]As posted below, just added here for convenience[/edit]
I made 232hp at the wheels at 15 PSI before the DP's untimely death.
AND
Notice the PAC-Man mouth lookin' crack/HOLE just below the exhaust housing flange...

Plus, how much HP you guys think I'd gain going with a real 3" DP, and leaving the WG open loop?

Thanks

Here's where I work on my li'l beastie... (The Tuppercar is my G/f's car, at least it's a 5 speed!!)

And here's my Daily Driver after her first post-winter Bath a few days ago...

well it will definitely spool faster. as far as amout of hp you'll pick up depends on the amount of boost you run.

Maybe i dont realize that Im drunk, but I cant tellwhat the hell you did!

All i know is that a 3" DP is only going to help you if it is crush-bent

at first I was like WTF is he talking about then I noticed the shadow on the pipe about an inch down from the flange.

go open.

it makes that distictive "i'm not ******* around anymore" sound @WOT when your running someone, as if you didn't already know that

Yeah, sorry I didn't explain better. There's just a HUGE gaping hole that looks like a Pac-Man mouth about 1 inch below my exhaust flange.

Not sure if it shows on the imagestation pic because of being resized, but inside the outlet hole, you can also see a crack where the WG tube comes intot he elbow of the DP.

This DP is FUBAR. Also, I sold the turbo to pick up a 57 trim from Precision. Planning on going 84mm bore this summer sometime, or MAYBE as a winter project for the season after. That all depends on money and how well the b16 bottom end with my Endyne 9:1's and Eagle rods holds up.

Ahhh, How did I know my Name-Clone would rply to this one?

Yeah, it's an 86 with 90k original miles, smoking like a champ... needs rings and valve seals badly. Still runs like a scalded dog, though. 14.20 last year with just exhaust work.

You post more than me lately, I say we keep it. The older, wiser members who matter know we are separate people.

Hey I work on mine in a storage garage too, but mine can fit like three civic's in it. They don't like it when I runn the generator, welder, and air compressor all at the same time though. I think it has something to do with the fact the entire storage building starts vibrating and resonating like mad.

I've been in my storage for about 3 years now. They could care less what I do, I pay up front, 6 months at a time, and keep quiet, and I don't use their light socket to power anything besides the lightbuld that's in it.

Anyone else not able to see the pics? I still can, but maybe the linking from Imagestation is acting messed up...

Nathan, let me know if you would like me to send you the pics directly.

That picture is kinda like a brain teaser because the hole looks just like a shadow......took me like 5 minutes just to figure out what the hell you were talking about. I'm dumb

It looks like you have your stock crossmember in. Good Luck getting 3" past that. If you do I would definately like to see.

Hehe, me too Jody. I've got 2.5" before the x-member, then 3" past it.

As Hybrid901 said, it'll have a tubular crossmember, adjustable traction bars, and a beautifully fabricated 3" downpipe with a VBand attachment. I'm going to have a friend at NexLevel Fabrications here in Memphis work on it for me... Probably a Mid-Spring project for them.

This will all be after the Motor mount is sent to/returned from HasPort, the Manifold and turbo are installed, and the good wheels and tires are put back on.

I've got a little money to earn before I can spend it to get the car back on the road, to say the least.

The Stang:
Yeah, It's fuel injected. Stock engine, with only exhaust work. It went 14.20 last year on street tires, and it has been drinking a quart of 20w-50 every 200 miles for the last 3 years. It doesn't leak a drop, though. It'll probably get a nice 331 Stroker kit from that local company called Eagle Specialty Products, and I'm planning for a full custom twin turbo/FAST system for it to get it in the 9's/10's on drag radials. I want it to go, handle, stop, and lay the smack down on the street as well as it looks, or better!

well, its kinda funny. this is one of the rare mustangs u will see that is not built to run on a track. he basically built it so the single turbo supras wouldnt dominate around here anymore. its highway mustang but it made 606whp on 10psi and pump most recently, before the car had a 18lb pulley and it was making a bit more but was blowing head gaskets left and right, on low boost it seems to be ok.

Hmmmm. NICE. I bet it's a handful from stoplight to stoplight, but on the highway, I can see that thing being a BEASTIE. There aren't any single turbo Supra's around here that didn't come with just one stock, so if/when my little 86 gets the 331, and a pair of turbo's she should be hot ****.

Cleanass car, I've saved those pics now. Thank you! VERY nice.

seems like you should be making more power at that boost level did anyone else notice that? My friend just made 227hp with 8psi. I confused
