oil filters?
you can use the b-series filters on the k series motors.
Honda claims there are clearance issues so you shouldn't run the b-series filter, but I've inspected the clearances carefully and there is no way the driveshaft could make contact with the b-series filter. It works well as an oversize application. Not to mention you can get the b-series filter at any auto parts store in bosch, mobil 1, purolator etc. The k series filter is OEM honda or fram (ick)

thanks guys for the info, i picked up a new OEM filet, but i have another problem, i cant get the old filter off! and the filter is in the worst spot, who the hell puts it right next to the cross member? anyhow and suggestion on how to get it off?
the oil filter doesn't determine the oil pressure. The only pressure sensitive issue is the bypass valve spring tension - And ideally, your filter will never get so clogged that the bypass valve has to trip.
The easiest way to get to the filter on an EP or RSX is to jack the car up so the front wheels are BARELY off the ground - just enough to get full extension of the front suspension. Then turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, and reach in behind the passenger side wheel, and get the filter. You won't get any oil on you, you can get a pretty good angle on the filter, and you don't even have to get under the car.

well i can get to the filter just fine and stuff but this is the first oil change and the damn thing wont turn at all. just need a sugestion on how to turn this thing
get one of the socket type filter wrenches. it's like a little cup that fits over the end of the filter, and the 3/8 ratchet pops into the square hole, and bam, you can get some good leverage on it.
other than that, try taking it off when the motor is hot. usually easier. Really, you should be doing your oil change with the motor hot.

socket type wrench? never seem um, where can i get one. this filter is pissing me off. i just changed the oil w/o changing the filter bwah. oh yea does anyone make synthetic 5w-20 oil? i cant seem to find a Mobil 1 oil in that weight in the stores.
I find the cap style filter remover works best too. I bought some other filter remover and that darn thing won't budge. The cap one works well.
Here's a link on ephatch.com as to what it looks like. I thought the filter is easier to remove if the engine is cold NOT warm or hot. Oil flows faster, sure. But the slight expansion of the metal might make it harder to remove the filter. I dunno. I struggle with it till I got the cap style. By then it could be the cap style or the engine got cold.

Hmm.. I can't get the link to show up properly
Haha.. it thinks the little o and i in oil is a smiley

Chunky,
The reason I ask is this: people are running the K series filters on their B series motors because it supposedly increases oil pressure. I know the filter itself doesn't regulate pressure. Wouldn't the capacity of oil in the system, however, either decrease or increase pressure. Since the B series filter is larger, wouldn't using it decrease oil pressure--as long as you use the same amount of oil. Just a question I don't know the answer to!

here's what K&N said about the subject matter:
"Here are the measurements and information of each oil filter.
HP-1004
Thread pitch: M20 x 1.5-6H Thread
Outside Diameter: 3.12"
Height: 3.48"
PSI Relief Valve: 11-14 PSI
Anti-Drain: Yes
HP-1010
Thread pitch: M20 x 1.5 Thread
Outside Diameter: 2.78"
Height: 3.75"
PSI Relief Valve: 11-17 PIS
Anti-Drain: Yes
We do not recommend using HP-1004 on your 2002 RSX Type S. The thread pitches are different and the PSI Relief Valve have different pressures."
HP-1004 is for the B,D16,D15, and F series motors...HP-1010 is for the K series and '01 up civic motors...late

http://www.snapon.com has the filter wrench you need. Damn the honda factory
i spent a half hour beating a screwdriver through the filter becuase the oil filter pliers i used were not cutting it. i used all types of oil filter removing tools at my shop and ende up just beating it with screwdrivers cause nothing else worked
