Keep your car!!! Just shedding some light on some theft prevention.

I owned this 94 GSR B20VTEC and managed to keep this bad boy parked in the streets with no problems what so ever. Here is my secret to theft prevention. Nothing is 100% but I had two of the wheel boots on my front and rear tires and manage to keep my car. I'm tired of hearing all of these cars getting stolen. I invested more than $20K into my car and paying a measily $200(2 wheel boots) made and kept me the proud owner of my car. I also live in one of the car theft capitals of the nation. I have 15 wheels boots for sale. 9 Red Boots (fits 11.5 rims and 6 Orange Boots( Fits SUVs and larger rims)

Yes, any car can be flatbedded. But most amateur thieves dont' drive around in flatbed tow trucks.

 

As the last person mentioned in the other thread.....what if they take the wheel off and replace it wit another???

My thoughts exactly, but anything to deter a thief is good.

 

Like I said, NOTHING IS 100%. Wheel locks will help and so will hood locks and an alarm, with autolock, the club, multilock, cut off switches, etc. The wheel boots will deter amateur theives but the harder you make it for a thieves to steal your car and more they will lose interest and they will look for another prey.

 

Haven't you ever seen that episode of the Simpsons where Homer drives his car back from NY with the wheel boot on?

 

It's just another layer of security. Not too bad of an idea if you park outside all the time.

 

oh man, a 5 year old could get past that wheel boot. I'd rather invent in a hammer to smash the body panels up. Far more effective.

I haven't seen any 5 year olds trying to steal my car. Lets have a poll and ask how many of stolen ITR owners had this boot on their cars. Like I said nothing is 100% but added layers of security will help.

 

Yes, of course. The minute you sleep, is the minute you lost your car. I invested too much money into her. Before I sold her, I planned on being the only owner of my car.

 

With the last ITR yesterday being stole in under 4 minutes, anything to slow them down will help. I honestly can't see myself using this several times a day for the next 4 or 5 years though.

 

It all depend how much you want to keep your car.

 

I've seen some boots that tow companies use that cover up the center of the wheel, so you can't get to the lug nuts.
