Default D17 crank in a D16.... Possible?

I am thinking about the possibility of using a D17 crank with custom made rods for my built ZC setup.

If it is at all possible, the resultant displacement of the motor with my custom 78mm JE's would be 1.8L.

Has anyone ever tried OR heard of this?

I am pretty sure the bearing journals are the same, however, I'm not sure if the geometry will work.

possible yes....worth it no. there are too many differences between the two. not to mention that making an already long stroke even longer problems(eg poor rod-strokeratios) not an ideal way of acquiring a small amount of displacement

i'd say go for the 1.5l crank and d16 rods (perfection would be the f22 rods, they'll bolt right up, need a deck plate though), that'll give you an engine that you can rev the bajeebus out of.

not to mention i bet a d17 crank would cost about the same a 5 d16s

Thats pretty much what I was thinking. Oh well.

BTW, the 1.5L crank DOES not fit a D16 block. The bearing journals are different. The crank would need to be machined to fit....yet again pointless.
