Newest year can swap out 89 honda accord dx with.
I was wondering up to what year can i swap out my engine with,,,, with out changing the wireing harness or making any severe modifications ... i want to to keep it as somple as possible..also if i van put one in that has fuel injection rather than carburated as the one i have in there,,........
Look into doing a B-series swap, or possibly even tossing a B series VTEC head on your block if it's good.

Sorry but it will probably be cheaper to tune your existing car. I know that there is a website dedicated to the 3rd Gen Accord(your Generation). Do a google search.
i am in the same pickle, and in this stage in my life it benefits me to keep the stock engine and mod that, it maynot be the fastest but i like it and thats all that matters.

You have an A20A3 engine, I believe.
thanks chris...so my 89 accord DX has A20 or A3 engine...I would need to change the whole harness and computer...what about the mounts? thats going from 3rd gen. to 2nd .right....

I have a cusin in the auto recy bus.. he is willing to help me get an engine..pretty much at no expense...just need to know what engine..to use and from what year and model...
Actually the carb'd motor was A20A1, but it's basically the same engine anyways except for the fuel delivery and compression ratio, and a few other small things.
Anyways, it would be hella work to convert everything to EFI for an engine swap, so I would recommend just modding the motor you have. There's actually quite a bit you can do to a carb to beef it up quite a bit (assuming you have no emissions testing). You'd be suprised what a Weber carb can do! It's up to you though and how much work you want to do

what is the difference in B18C1 ,C2 and so on... what do the last two digits stand for? my accord dx is carbed.. if i do decide to go with a FI what and how do i do the mods ? Or should I just change the heads.. assuming the block is good... I really havent taken a closer look at the engine cause of the severe weather we are haveing here,,,.
The last two digits tend to just be the same engine but with different internals and such. Here's a pretty complete list: http://www.accordinglydone.com/data.php
Yo chris ,,you the man! thanks for the list , it is very helpful... answered many questions... thank you... If i wanted to put a B18C1 how would i get info, on how to do the neccesary mods... thank you...
