Best header GSR (Bolt on)
I have a 94 gsr engine with civic type r cams and a skunk2 manifold. I was wondering the best header to buy. I want a straight bolt up. Please help me out.
I baught the SS Greddy 4-2-1 its NICEEEE! U can feel the difference & i just went from stock engine with Comptech Intake threw the header on. I felt the Mid-range a whole lot u will feel & hear the power difference im very happy i baught it and very happy with the gain! Direct bolt-on!!! I do recommend renewing ur collector gasket mine was kinda nasty looking and i own an 98 GSR.
How's that Skunk2 Intake Manifold? I heard they drain alot from early power & puts all to top end so for me (what i think) I'd take a mid-range gain for with a 4-2-1
U have civic type R cams & skunk2 Mani u can even try just going factory and slapping ITR 4-1 &
the TOP END POWER... Its all ur call man lLATER

Um...what header isn't a bolt on? With the mods you listed I would definitely recommend any JDM header to your likings, even the DC version if money is tight, with a 2.5" collector the only other thing you'll need to buy is a larger cat (carsound
) You'll see nice gains, especially with your setup, but you may need to tune your a/f ratio for max gains

what the hell needs to be welded? not tryin to start an argument but i have never seen anyone with a header that needed to be welded or a cat that needed to be modified, what's an extra $100 or so for a cat that's made to fit?
the cat has to be welded...and he is askig for a header not cat...so you should assume he has one ....so modify his existing cat. can you do that with bolts..you have to cut...that's not bolts.

ugh
What is the best header?
What are your goals as far as peak HP? powerband? future modifications?
No header is the best for all situations. Do you think a header designed for wild cams and high compression is going to work perfectly with a B18C that only has bolt ons? No, of cource not.
You are going to get a ton of responses like "OMG dude, get X header, I got it and I felt a 10whp increase! No joke!" , when there is no fact or reason they are recomending it other than they bought it, and someone who bought it before recomended it to them.
Research before you buy parts, otherwise you will find yourself spending lots of money replacing parts that are not going to work well with your total engine package.
edit: fyi, you can get direct bolt on 2.5" cats all over the place, there is no need to weld a cat in this situation.

c'mon now, use your heads and answer his question..
2.5" collectors are not good in every situation.
What do you plan to do with your car? it needs to be known before anyone can make a worthwhile recomendation.
Are you going to do anything more than the CTR cams and s2 IM? high compression pistons? N2O? ever going to get wilder cams? Do you currently have any exhaust work done?

I agree, use your heads. Stop randomly recommending which header you have, because different engine packages require different headers for optimal performance.

DC's probly the most popular header. I've been reading up on Landspeed header and supposively gives a good 8 - 10 hp dyno proven. Anybody got landspeed? (wait or is it spelled lanspeed? crap forgot how it was spelled)
Alright -- I picked Comptech for you bc you have a mild all motor setup, and it will give you decent gains throughout the powerband. You wont be pushing upwards of 190 whp, so I think the 4-2-1 design is a great idea, and the best 4-2-1 that is almost affordable would be comptech.
Maybe so, but running the stock cat is not "optimal" in any situation,
2.5" collector? planning on having over 200whp NA when you are set and done? If not, don't go for it. You are just going to have an exhaust system that is either too large, or mismatched (2.5" collector, 2.5" cat, 60mm catback, that sounds good eh?
)The Comptech 4-2-1 is a great choice as far as traditional 2" collector, non-seqentual 4-2-1 headers go. Its the only one that has a stepped design that I know of.
