Default Need Help Making Heel-Toe easier on a 93 civic

I've tried it using the sole-sole method (rolling the foot from left edge to right edge) and I've tried using the pigeon-toed one (right toe to brake, right heel to gas), and even the right heel on the brake and right toe on the gas.

The fact is, the accelerator pedal seems too far to reach in the sole-sole heel-toe method, let alone depress it enough to match revs fast enough in any of the three ways.

Is there any pedal set-up anyone can recommend? And does anyone recommend changing the valve at the throttle body? I've heard someone makes an aftermarket valve to make the throttle kick in earlier when pressing the accelerator.

Lastly, does anyone recommend getting a lighter flywheel with a different pedal set-up? Or just pedal set-up, or just the flywheel?

Any experience and/or opinions would be welcome, even if the opinion is that it's a b-tch to heel-toe in a 93 civic.

thanks people!

Yep. Easiest fixes are to bend the throttle pedal assembly to the left a little, or add a set of covers.

Here are just a few samples from the Sparco USA website. Some of them have a decent extension on the bottom left. Check some other companies to. Just throwing it out.

I have no probs with the stock pedals as my feet are small flexable but you might want to try changing your manual brake pedal for an automatic one...lol haven't tried this but who knows.

No problems in my car. The factory pedals are actually set pretty well. Keep practicing, you shouldn't need fancy pedal covers.

i just use one on the gas pedal. i really dont like aftermarket pedals because they slip on me and i'm too lazy to get the drill out. so i just one on the gas and since slamming the crap out of the gas pedal is something i really dont do it doesn't slip.

I just went through the same pains. Basically I went and I moved the brake and throttle pedal covers to be closer to each other. That helped. What really helped was trying a new style. I used to leave my heel in contact with the floor of the car. I would brake with the ball of my foot and blip the throttle with the right outer most edge of my foot.

Now I lift my foot off of the floor of the car, I use my whole upper foot to brake and I use my heel to blip the throttle.

What works for one driver may not work for another. Just keep trying different techniques. You'll find one that works for you.

I have the problem that my shoes are pretty big (size 13) and I can't seem to rotate my heel over far enough to reach the gas pedal in my Integra. It's like my bones/muscles just won't allow it. Moving the seat farther back helps, but then my arms become too far away from the steering wheel. I saw a friend that had a Momo wheel w/ extension on it, now THAT was nice, I might look into something like that one day.

Gorilla method: Grab pedal with both hands. Pull toward brake pedal.

Engineer method: Remove accel pedal assembly from car. Clamp it in a vise. While using a suitable lever, bend in a direction that will bring it closer to the brake pedal.
