Default Type S: Just finished ES motor mount install...

yeah, it's about a 3 hour job...i couldn't get the front mount out of the engine bay so i just installed the front inserts while under the car...(actually you don't even have to pull the front mount out, just slide it out a little bit, then install the inserts)...

to make the install easier on myself, i disconnected the down pipe from the exhaust manifold ( just unbolted the 2 bolts that connect the down pipe to EM) to do the rear instead of taking off the metal bracket from the tranny...i found this way much easier to get the bolts back in...

Impression: D@mn my whole car shakes while at idle now haha...even my broadway mirror shakes...actually, the "vibration" is quite harsh...interior noise is up quite a bit also...

performance wise, these inserts are well worth the $30 bucks and the install time...

upshifts, downshifts, and everything in between is beautiful now...w/out the ES inserts, when i use to heel toe (to brake) you could feel the motor move real violently...now there's no movement at all and heel toe'ing is even smoother then before with the ES inserts...

If you don't like interior noise and can't stand your interior vibrating, DON'T do this mod!

Rating: For performance i give this mod a 10 out of 10 (10 being the highest)...for interior vibrations and noise i give it a 2 out of 10 (seriously, the vibration is quite bad!)

Overall i give this mod a 10 out of 10, performance made up 100% for the interior noise and vibration...late

While at the dyno I was amazed at how much the motor would move as they took it throught the gears, I would imagine the ES mounts would be a great improvement over stock. I considered getting some for the wife's RSX, but don't think I will after your review of the vibration. She'd have my ***.

yeah...the vibration is pretty bad...i would say the ES inserts are only for people who want to seek out performance and are willing to sacrafice some comfort (actually a lot) to do so...

if you installed it on her car i think she'd kick your a$s also...haha...late

i installed it in about 1hr,... it was a pain,..

i acutally took the front mount out,.. i guess i didnt really have to,

but for the rears when you unbolted the downpipe, did you put any exhuast cement on it before bolting it back up? i was afraid there would be leaks, so i slapped some on just in case,..

ohh ya, try turning the a/c on, now thats a butt massager,..

nope...didn't put any exhaust cement on it...the exhaust manifold already has a gasket there (where it meets with the downpipe)...i just bolted it back to Helm's torque specs and it's fine...

wow...1 hour....you either work really really fast or you have a lift....either way...rite on...late

can't wait to put mine in. they'll be here in about a week.

right now i have some NASTY wheel hop due to the new tires i've got. I'll put up with some vibration to get rid of the hop.
