I went to go look at an '88 crx today. I was told it was an HF, but it turned out to be a DX.
I've read there is about a 100lb weight difference between the two.

Does anyone know what exactly accounts for the extra weight in the dx?

I did a search and couldn't find the info I need.

That link wasnt much help.

According to the their info, the dx has tilt steering and a rear wiper(which this crx did not).

But their info wasn't all correct anyway. It listed both curb weights at 2108lbs.


So does anyone know, specifically, what makes the dx weight 100lbs more??

 

There is sound deadening material in the DX along with the, now don't laugh, clock, tilt steering, rear wiper, rear washer nozzle, rear cargo cover, air conditioning, different bumer cover, different seats, and usually different seatbelt mounting points. There may have been a few more things I missed, but it's late and I'm tired....

Not all 88 DXs have rear wipers, I know mine doesnt

 

The DX didn't get the rear wiper until 90. Other items that reduce weight are the lighter engine and the bumper reinforcement.

 

my hf has a clock, mirrors on both sides, and factory a/c.

yes, but was it like that direct from the factory.

 

do a search for my name and you will find i posted almost the exact same thing. someone replied with the all the 88 models weights. i have an hf and i know my factory weight is 1819.

DX: 1922
SI: 2011

I know what the weights are, I just wasnt sure what was causing the weight difference.

Take in consideration the size of the brakes, knuckles, and axles. When you swap them out for Si/DX youll get some weight.
