Does K&N airfilter give and real gains?
in terms of real, i mean quantifiable...... I was looking to do the set-up like brett-q did using the RU2820 filter.
I need afilter anyway, but is it worthwile or waste of cash?

Flows better, but gains are next to none.
However it is cheaper in the long run because you can re-use/clean it.
Plus the material is better flowing than the stock paper filter.

I get the K&N not because of power. Just because I don't want to spend more money on paper filter in the future. But I believe paper filter does a better job filtering than K&N
Why get a K&N panel filter when you could save the loot and get a tubular intake with a cone filter? The K&N panel is only as good as your stock airbox is......

FYI, DC Integras come w/ a cylindrical filter, which has more area than a cone filter of the same length. Used inside the stock airbox w/ a tube to the fenderwell area makes it better than any short-ram hot-air intake.
what does this k&n filter look like? anyone have pics of the drop-in? DAsicks, the stock airfilter is already a cone(cylindrical) filter. i assume the k&n is the same design. right now im running the stock intake and filter with the top of the airbox off.. im thinking about buying a k&n to replace the stock one (its time for a new one anyway)

well I wouldn't get the K&N drop-in for the Integra, it's like $70 and doesn't include the end piece that secures to the airbox, or the rubber seal that goes between the filter neck and airbox
Running w/o the top of the airbox will make you lose power.
The best bet IMHO is to get the RU-2820 universal filter, cut up a stock filter, and attach the neck and end piece to the K&N, it will fit in your airbox EXACTLY like stock, AND you retain the rubber seal and end piece.

I got a K&N drop in and I hacked apart the bottom half of my airbox so in essense it is a shirt air. I felt gains and it pulled better and sounded better Then last summer I picked up an AEM CAI. The throttle response got alot worse and I didn't really feel **** as far as performance. Maybe if you had a vtec motor that revs higher it would help more but on my LS with exhaust and header it really didn't do ****. Soo, i sold the AEM and threw my drop in filter back in. I got better throttle response, I don't have to worry about sucking up water, and there is really no diff in power. The stock intale tube is roughly the same size as the AEM so thats not really a bottleneck. I'd save your dough and pickup a used (clean it with recharge kit like i did) or new filter for not too much.
The only time I acually noticed a difference is last july. I removed my k&n to clean it and stuck a stock paper filter in its place for a day. Driving around town with the a/c on, the car ran stronger withthe k&n.

That was the plan... thanks...

I have the K&N drop-in filter for the integra. . .model# E-2427 I believe. Noticed better throttle response after installing it, but any power gained is probably very minimal. Check out below for a picture of this filter.
Also, there are no fitment problems with this filter as someone mentioned. . .there is a complete seal when you put the lid on the airbox.
