Really messed up my new GSR bad.. Help please... hit 11k RPM's
Well the topic speaks for itself.... 5days ago.. i got a gsr that has had some work done to it.. u can see the mods in my sig. Anyway i was engaging in a small competition of speed with a first gen rx7 and at the top of third i was about to pass him and i accidently threw it into 2nd. and well lets say that wasnt good. I timing chaini was really lose after towing it back to my mechanic he tightened it up and it seemed better.. i backed it up.. put it in first and there is NO power I need to rev it to about 4grand in order to move very much.. the ideas that have been thrown around are a bad tps sensor or the pcv one. and it wot really get past 5600rpm when driving any ideas i would REALLY appreciate.. btw on friday i am getting a skunk 2 Intake mani. str throttle body and a type r intake
thanks
thanks

well, it's a timing belt, not a chain. If it did get loose, your cam timing is probably off, which would explain the loss of power. Also, if your luck isn't incredible, you probably bent some valves, again adding to the loss of power. Redo the timing belt and then do a compression check (to check for bent valves).
Sounds like your have some major damage on your hands. I would say that it's time to pull the head off the car and find out what needs to be replaced.... BTW- That must have been a seriously modified 1st gen RX-7....
From your story and your problem. Seems like your blew out your clutch. My cousin blew out his and didn't go but about 30mph at 6k rpm.
Well i pulled the valve cover off we checked the valves and everything seemed ok.. the kid who had the car b4 me did this and thats why its built with all skunk 2 stuff... so hopefully its someting simple .. yea someone told me it was the clutch. that shouldnt be to hard to replace.. any other ideas...
Oh also we checked the timing.. the cam cover was off and it seemed ok too
Thanks for your quick responses too... i am new to the forum.. hopefully i can be of use and find it useful

the fact that the timing belt was loose is what gets me. All should not be right in the head. COuld be that you're running a few cylinders short depending on the damage. That would definatly explain the loss of power

all cylinders seem to be firing fine.. the belt wasnt to tight to start with.. i think the stress on the engine mighta loosened the tensionor.. anyway.. i am taking it back to my mechanic tomorrow morning.. i have another tps to try in it.. otherwise we are going to take another look at the timing.. ut it seemed fine...
it is a 95 also.. but fully rebuilt...... i'll get pics in the next coupe days.. its pretty clean
thanks
p.s. how long till i am not a trial user?

heh it was pertty quick.. at least he thought it was cause he was waving b4 he took off, and i was about to pass him until i happened to find 2nd gear in a hurry..
yea it sux.. had the car for 5days and blew it up already
oh well i only learnt how to drive a stick 5 days ago too
Hmm dunno if u can see this.. it wont let me post another message.. the cam gears look like they can be like a tooth off.. can that make a diff.

Please check to see if the cam gears are a tooth off.
Compression test for leaks.
Check for bent valves.
How can you mess up a senors?
Good luck.

dont just rely on what you can see with the valve cover off, you should pull the head.
also i gott say
on you for buying such a modified car, without knowing how to drive it and then going street racing with it. sorry to hear about it, but you were just begging for trouble. when i got my stock gsr and learned stick, i rarely hit vtec until i was smooth with everything.
learn more about driving and the car you have, then take it to the TRACK

I don't see where you came up with the clutch being the problem
If you down shifted into second you overreved your engine. you prolly bent valves.
DO A COMPRESSION CHECK.

I would be questioning my choice of mechanics at this point... You will not blow your TPS sensor by missing a shift... you will however bent valves and cause all kinds of other problems.

learn how to drive before you race
This happened to a buddy of mine with his Type R, his brother was driving and did it TWICE consecutively! The valve springs were bent and had to be replaced... good luck man.

If your integra has that much work done to it i'd first learn how to drive your car and shift before you go street racing guys on the road and killing yourself and others.
You were granny shiftin' and not double clutching like you should
J/K
Hopefully its just your clutch. Good luck.
BTW I think you are only a trial user for 30 days. Not sure though.

correct me if im wrong but if the tps sensor doesn't work the car wont run. This is one of the sensors you that must have to even get the car in limp mode. am i right?
