shorter 4th & 5th gears
I changer my 4th&5th gears on my ITR that I only use on the track. I put the gears from the Civic VTi (European model)in my gearbox and I've been racing a full season with out problems , the good thing is that I've used it together with a Exedy light flywheel and a lowerde vtec point 4800 RPM , now on the track with this combinantion you alwas are in the VTEC zone . you don't have to reve the car to its max RPM to be in the VTEC zone when you go from 3th to 4th or from 4th to 5th.
Its realy cheap excellent mod. These gears can be ordered in the US (yes , the are available) from a honda dealer. I hade a friend in California that did this mod on his ITR and it saved him a lot of money.
If any one wants the part N° , I will gladly give them

Sure - tell us the ratio's and the partnumbers.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Thanks for the partnumbers Douglas.
But, what are the ratio's? I looked all over and couldn't find any info on these gears.
And, Kirk, I knew about Mardi Gras already, and between them and whoever Mark Hein is/was getting his stuff from in England it's possible to spend alot of money - but it looked like most of their gearbox stuff was either Mugen or Quaiffe, and while there was a 5th ratio available it likewise was unidentified, and no 4th was listed. I have a feeling that these OEM partnumbers, if they turn out to be for real, may not be usefully short enough - though if they're even close and the price is right, I could probably compromise.
Scott, who has compromised so much lately that his plans feel like fantasies....

Ok. Dunno how accurate this is but a quick search turned up that the Euro VTi used the B16A2 (DelSol engine in USDM?) engine. So i'm guessing the gear ratios would be the same as the USDM version, so probably a 1.107 4th and 0.848 5th...
That'd be the same as the USDM ITR.
Scott, who thinks super short OEM 4th & 5th gears sounds too good to be true...

Thats right , the Euro Civic VTI is the 160hp b16 engine. The Euro ITR has the same final ratio as the JMD ITR.
I know that If I only reve my engine to 7500 rpm in 3rd gear that I am again in the VTEC zone , same for 4th to 5th gear. Oh , this is super because I am using the Mugen ECU with lower VTEC (4800 rpm) and an EXEDEY light flywheel. This combination gives me a l very broad powerband from 3rd to 5th gear.

What he did was make a USDM ITR tranny gear set... [and it is legal in the H1 Honda Challenge class.]

Fine..
I had been in Hockenheim today for training...
I drove in ITR #641 with shorter 3rd,4th and 5th gear. It was terrific !
Vtec x-over at 5000 and rev limt at 9000. He hit limiter in 5th in Hockenheim (!!!) at 230km/h.
6-8 seconds faster lap over stock gears I guess.
The VTI is an interesting option.
