Just like you said. Depending on how big the power wire is, you might just want to cut a hole in the middle of that plug w/an exacto knife and thread the wire through the plug and put the plug in the firewall where it should be. Water in the car is bad. If your power wire is 4 guage or less then you'll run into problems.. my 2 guage didn't fit. There's a hole in the material behind that hole in my car. I've had no problems.

I say go for it.

if you take out the plug and cut a slit in it and then thread your wire through the plug you can just put the end of the wire in the hole by the battery and start threadin it through (if you pulled the carpet n **** back you should see the end of the wire hangin on the inside--- real simple)

this worked for my 4ga. monster cable

good luck

I pulled the plug out and cut a slit in it, then pushed the plug over my power wire. Then I poked a long phillips screwdriver through the hole in the firewall so it would poke through that insulation under the carpet and be visible down under the heater core. Then I tied the power wire to the screwdriver, pulled it back through, and put the rubber plug back in place in the hole.
