What's your favourite track?
What's your favourite track among the one's you've driven? Also, why is it your favourite?
I haven't driven on many big or famous tracks, but my favourite so far is Watkins Glen. I doubt that will change any time soon, although I may get to try out Tremblant this year. I thought it would be less than fun with a 92 hp car, but I was wrong. It was extremely fun and not scary (until it rained). Also, there are many sections that can be taken flat out in my car, which is also really cool.
The most beautiful I've seen is Spa Francorchanps, but I was simply a passenger on that one.

I'm trying to make it up to The Glen this summer.
Seriously, if you live in SE PA and haven't run the Glen yet you need a spanking.
Matt (who is in a strange mood)
Race the Glen, or race the Glen not, there is no try.
#1 Watkins Glen, hands down.
#2 VIR (full course)
#3 Mid Ohio
#4 Lowes
#5 Summit Pt.
#6 VIR North
#7 Pocono "IMSA" or "long" course
#8 Limerock
#9 Pocono East
#10 Pocono South
#11 Pocono North
#12 Jefferson Circuit
#13 CMP
The first three courses are "classic" type circuits; full of history, etc. They flow, and to turn good lap times you need to flow, too. When you are at the Glen and turning a good lap (sub 2:20 for most moderately powered cars) it feels almost heavenly... Lowes is up there mainly for the "oh sh#@" factor -- if you drive hard there you need to change your shorts after a race!!! no where else have I ever felt a car load up in a corner like barreling down the long straight at lowes and entering the far turn with no lift.... nothing like that....
I wish that HC did a race at the Glen. oh well, thats why I belong to EMRA..

I hope you don't consider 92 hp to be a moderately powered car, because then all the EMRA ST4 guys are way off the pace at the Glen...

I've only driven VIR and Summit Point, and I must say that I enjoy VIR much more. One more month until I taste Mid-Ohio, and I think I'm going to visit Waktins Glen in June.
Summit Point sucks monkey ***.
The surface is terrible, but at least the facilites are crap.

I have been to very few but I have to say THUNDERHILL. It is really pretty when it is green and fun to drive. I had the best ride of my life there.
short story: I was riding in a Viper Indy pace car, 160 on front strait, driver yells "NO BRAKES", strugle to get the car to slow down, 140mph driver yells "**** IT I'M TRUNING", we spin off corner #1 into the grass up hill to a stop, biggest rush of my life.

Mid-Ohio and Putnam Park are favorites of mine. Mid-Ohio cuz it's technical and Putnam cuz you can run pretty hard safely. But I want to go to VIR, Road Atlanta, and I hear Roebling Road is very entertaining too.
The tracks in my area that I haven't been to, but have gotten good press are:
Gingerman and Waterford Hills. Plus I'm looking forward to BeaveRun at the Expo as well!

DunReit, are you going to Mid-Ohio with Traquest or NASA? I'm missing the NASA event (major bummer) but If you're going to the TQ event let me know.
my vote'd be Roebling Road
If I had a car I could smack into a wall and not care I'd vote for Road Atl
I have yet to try VIR and I'm curious about that Barber Track in Bham ... oh well, someday

My favorite? A toss up between VIR and Lowes, with Roebling, Road Atlanta, and CMP following, in that order. No that I don't like CMP, I do. I haven't raced on a track I don't like. And I don't intend to start now...
Laguna Seca - Corkscrew, atmosphere, and results.
Sears Point - Roller coaster - gotta love those blind hill-cresting turns.
Mid-Ohio - Technical, challenging and home to the Runoffs.
That's my top three.
I look forward to Road America, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta.

don't throw rotten tomatoes but I gotta say Lowes Motorspeedway is the one I look most forward to on the calendar (two trips last year). VIR and RA are right there too and like Richard said, I haven't raced a track I don't like. CMP is hands down my favorite track for a rain-race.
1 Watkins Glen (yellow paint + blue walls = green out of pocket.... the fear makes it that much better)
2 VIR Full (tie)
2 Laguna Seca (tie)
4 Concord Motor Speedway (Nascar owns all ricer ****)
5 Road Atlanta (with the 'gravity cavity')
6 Summit Pt. (my first... the cherry buster)
7 VIR North (cross over = rwd joy)
8 Jefferson Circuit (you learn more there than you could ever imagine)(CW and CCW)
9 The 'Dirt Track' near CMS (semi-banked, 4/10-mile oval)
10 CMP (my brakes work just fine there... :shrugg: )
11 Gingerman (b/c it is better than VIR South)
12 VIR South (why not?)
13 1/4 mile paved 'Legends Car' oval (infield at CMS)
Mid-Ohio and Nürburgring are on my 'to-do' list.
