Well welcome to the world of mods, that noise u hear is called a more aggressive Vtec lobe, and its beautiful isnt it : ) hp always come with a price though trust me, if its not one thing its the other.

Sounds sweet doesn't it? First time I heard my car w/ Crower 63403 cams I was hooked. When Vtec kicks at 6k it screams man! Glad it went well for you bro.

even after u do a valve adjustment u will witness a clickin noise from your motor .....its just the beauty of these cams.....hahaha...you should lok into a skunk2 intake manifold and header .....your vtec will scream like crazy....all i had were ITR cams in an LS/VTEC set-up it sounds hella crazy metal clashing with metal thats what i describe it as....

u should really change your oil and do another valve adjustment after 500 miles...your oil will most likely be black due to the cam lube and the shavings that will grind off from your new cams but don't worry...have fun!

This is a quote from Skunk2nr in his thread selling his stage 1's.

"Baseline run at 163 WHP with STOCK intake manifold, STOCK ecu, STOCK valvetrain, STOCK exhaust, and STOCK Cat. Converter with Fan broken on a 98 degree day. Stock, car got 144wHP so the cams and other stuff gave me a good 19 WHP."

Hope he doesnt mind.

I don't mind at all. I know I could have pulled a MUCH better Number after the mods I'm about to get installed. Definately the Best street cams IMO.

I sold my Skunk2 Stage 1's, but my pops is **** about me gettin Stage 2 cams. He said if I don't pass smog, he will sell the car!!!

So he's telling me to get smaller cams or stick with the Stage 1's.... So I'm really debating right now if I should just stay...

Damn, that sucks man. Why dont you just put the stock cams in for smog and change them out for the stage 2's after you pass?

i had the same problem with my stage 2's. sounded like a diesel truck. i fixed it by adjusting the valves. now what i mean by adjusting the valves, i mean like 6 times til they were correct. i dont know why, maybe because the lift of the cams, they had to settle in. now its perfect.

is it necessary to use both intake and exhaust cam with the skunk2 stage 1? can i just use the skunk2 stage1 intake and stock exhaust? or will the gains be a lot better with both?

both of course. You have all the lift and duration in the intake side, suckin in all this air and fuel, but you have little lift and duration on the exhaust side, so it'll be uneven.

Get both... it'll be hard to find just 1 Skunk2 cam. They usually sell them in pairs.

You can bet it is going to be quite expensive...man, buy a helms, give yourself a weekend, and give it go. Get some buds who know about the stuff, and give it a try. When I installed mine, I was sure to have a couple knowledgable buds along with me (props to INVTEC) so I was sure we would get it done correctly. Besides, you learn a ridiculous amount from doing it yourself...I seriously recommend it.
