Default ls-vtec or straight gsr

hey i have a 99 teg ls i just bought a gsr head with a port and polish and i have no clue if i should build a gsr motor or go ls-vtec it's my daily driver and i heard ls-vtec was a race motor and not very reliable also what parts should i go with for my head it's bare at the moment this guy is trying to sell me itr valves springs, valves and retainers for 300 is that the way to go or should i aim for dual valve springs, and tittanium retainers?

However, to give you a quick answer, go straight gsr if you can.

You already have ls so just go ls vtec

haha. all b18c1= much less worrying than ls-vtec.

ya abut wouldn't ls-vtec be quicker this guy will trade me my ls motor for a gsr block also how is the motor gonna work with a ls tranny

Only reason I suggested you go with ls vtec is that you already have everything you need. The only other major thing you need is a shorter geared tranny. As for reliabilty, it won't be as reliable as a b18c1

Trade the LS motor for the GSR block if it's in good shape. Don't mess with LS/Vtec if you don't have the cash to rebuild it if/when something catastrophic happens. Use your LS tranny w/ the C1 for now and if you run into some dead presidents down the road then you can upgrade to an ITR, Si, or GSR tranny.

I'd do that before I built a frankenmotor, but you're half way to a NA Vtec setup. Plus it's not like you're prevented from going FI after you put in a GSR block. You could also build for a JRSC if you chose.

just go straight GSR... LSvtec you need to rebuild to make good power with it .. if you can trade your LS swap for a gsr black and tranny then go for it... it worthit i think make sure you get the ECu also
