Default budget intake.

Alright, first and foremost im on a pretty tight budget when it comes to my car, atleast till I can find a job.

When i bought my car I noticed the bottom part of the airbox was missing, with a dirty drop in air filter chillin in there.

I gotta go with something new pretty soon. So what do you guys suggest. Here are my options as of right now.

1. Save up for ebay intake (20-40)
2. Buy new drop in filter and secure it in the box
3. Buy a cone style filter and clamping it on the existing intake hose.

thanks

go for 3...cuz with a cheap ebay intake youll be less inclined to replace it with a nice AEM or Injen one later on.

ebay CAI's rock best 40$ ever, people who trash on them do it because they dont have their cars tuned. wine wine, my cai made 4 hp instead of the 5 the AEM one. Boo hoo. The only prob I have with the cheepo intakes is the fittment. But I have a horizontal bandsaw so i can trim it up a bit.

I bought a K&N stock filter for $60. I get to keep the stock airbox. I can mod the stock box if I want. Nobody looks under my hood but me anyway. It all boils down to the diameter of tube the air travels through anyhow, regardless of it it has an AEM sticker on it. Most people on here never seem to talk about horsepower from new $8 spark plugs or a synthetic oil change. I bet those can give more than 5 hp. If the plugs are mis-gapped, worn etc.

DIY "Icebox" CAI!!!... http://www.geocities.com/bretq/DIY_Icebox_CAI.html can show you steps and parts on how to make it.

It is nearly identical to the Comptech Icebox and it cost a fraction of the cost .
