Is there any model 4th gen civic that came from the factory with body color matching mirrors for the drivers and passenger side mirrors? I have owned a 1990 CRX Si and a 1990 Civic Si and both came with black plastic mirrors. Just wondering.

 

yes,
my 88 SE(same as DX but with extra options) hatch has factory painted mirrors, bumpers and door handles. most Si's came with painted mirrors as far as I know, but i guess some didn't.

yep and im the friend thats argueing. i have a 91 si hatch thats tahitian(sp) green and the guy i got it from bought it new and he said the paint was original and the mirrors were color matched. its a parts car so i have took panels off here and there and from what i can tell its stock paint for sure. so either i have an alien honda or some 4th gens came with color matched mirrors ? please settle this up for us........

Yes there are painted mirrors for sure. I've seen many and you can still order them from Honda.

 

Most definetely body colored side view mirrors from the factory, at least available in Canada, I don't know if they were on a model in the US though. My 91 STD came with only the driver's side unpainted mirror, back in 91' my dad picked up both left and right painted mirrors from a dealer in canada.

 

It looks like it was available as an option and not as a factory standard. Would I be correct in assuming this? Hey b1reed we may both be right! lol

i dont think it was an option for the usdm 4th gen's
but i know every one i have ever seen that had them was a canadian
and i have seen a ton (working on them for a liveing now)

 

im not 100% sure on this but canada doesnt have the si do they? theres is an se so that means that my si must be usdm?

edit: i reread hcivic88 post im a dumbass i guess . but is there an si in canada or is it called somthin else?

In the U.S. no 4th gen came with painted mirrors. In fact, even the 92 Si did not come with painted mirrors, not until 93 did they start color matching the mirrors. (this may not hold true for 92 sedans). But if you have color coded mirrors, then someone painted them.

 

You are correct if you say "In the U.S. no 88-91 CRX..."
The 90-91 Civic Si's have factory painted mirrors. Do I need to post a picture of the last page in the factory Sales Borchure? I have both the 90-91 Civic and 90-91 CRX brochures. I also have a 91 Civic Si, a 90 CRX Si, and an 88 Civic DX. Under the section EXTERIOR FEATURES, Remote-Operated Mirror, the Civic Si says "Left and Right (Body-Colored)" (notice that's all in quotes).

The Civic Si is the only one out of these - Civic Hatchback, Civic DX Hatchback, Civic Si, Civic DX 4-Door Sedan, Civic LX 4-Door Sedan, Civic EX 4-Door Sedan, Civic 2WD Wagon, Civic 4WD Wagon, CRX HF, CRX, CRX Si.

and yes, there are Si's in canada.

 

In Canada 88-91 Si and SE had colour matched mirrors and bumpers.

 

I know that the 91 si hatches came with painted mirrors. There are some other small differences as well. The front grill on the 90 si's are tectured black and arent painted, the 91 si's are. I compared my 3 si hatches, 2 90's and 1 91 and thats the only difference(other than the headlights) that I have found. Im pretty sure that all crx's came with unpainted mirrors. The 4-doors are all black as well. Im sure there are exceptions but this is what I had read. There is a website that has the differences from yr to yr but I dont remember what it is.

Im pretty sure it was the honda civic homepage. The site is down or gone either or. I searched for other combos but no other page got very model specific. Im pretty positive about my info though.

 

im going to say for the hatches it must have been optional. I used to have a 90 Si that didnt have A/C or body color mirrors (white) and I just bought a 91 Si that has A/C and Body colored mirriors.

 

only 91 si's came with painted mirrors/bumpers
91 dx's came with black mirror(s) and colored bumpers
90 si's and older came with black mirrors and colored bumpers
90 dx's and older came with black mirrors and black bumpers
side moldings, i believe were not painted at all

I think this post makes the most sense! b1reed says they do come with matched body color mirrors refering to 91's and I said they don't come with matched body color mirrors refering to 90's. Are we both right? LMFAO

 

My sales brochure for the Civic line is 1991. It says nothing about "optional", so maybe 1991 is the only year of the Si that got painted mirrors.

 

Your right -TJ '91 was the only year that the Si had them painted...from what I know.
