HELP
I have.... 89 rex hf, integra ecu, b-series cam gears, cold air, straight pipe, 6 puck racing clutch, blah blah blah. My car recently broke down, I could not figure it out, first my battery light came on, then my car slowly died. Took it in and turned out when I had my swap done they did not put in an engine ground, so they got it running and i put a ground in, changed my neg from the battery, and cleaned up all the terminals everything. It has only been a day and now when i drive it the battery light comes on but when i rev past 5000 the light goes off and when i shift comes back on again. I have checked all the fuses and all that bull ****, took the battery into pep boys and it tested as being perfectly fine. I have been told that it is my alternator but I am still unsure. What do you guys think it is and do you think that an alternator from my friends 91 si hatch will work. Thanks alot
I have been down this road a few times. Alternator both times for me , would be surprized if it were not. They are a pain in the a$$ to change. Dont know if the motor swap will help or hurt you, but this is the easiest way I have found: Don't remove you master cylinder, most people will tell you to do this. Then you have to bleed the brakes (that sucks).
1. Remove negative battery terminal.
2. Remove your alternator from the mounting bracket from the engine block.
3. turn steering wheel sharply to the right.
4. jack left (drivers) side of car up and remove left front wheel.
5. loosen inner fender (black plastic thingy) at lower rear area about where alternator is.
6. slide alternator over halfshaft and out the opening you just created with the inner fender.
These steps applied to my 91 hf, hope they work for you
